Insurance **** Up

I have a Mister 2 and it really is bags of fun. I got a fully comprehensive quote for £409, that was on condotion I insured my A4 ( main runabout-high mileage ) with them when I was due to renew. I saved about £100 doing that. They mirrored the no claims from the A4.

I am surprised though that an insurance company would insure a 19 year old for such a powerful motor. I don't know your driving ability but I would argue that a rear wheel drive, mid engined, 0-60 in 5 and a half twin-entry turbo charged motor car is not for a 19 year old who has recently passed a test. I mean no offence here and your driving may be superb for whatever reason but do take care when you take it out. Have you thought about winter use, or the lack of. They are useless in icy conditions.

The one I bought is modified and I think quicker than 5 and a half. I love to drive it, it has plenty onions when you need to overtake and I am more of an acceleration fan that a top ender. I treat it with the utmost respect, especially when cornering although I appreciate I am probably teaching you to suck eggs here.

Enjoy, but be very careful because as any turbo owner will tell you, they bite when treated wrong. I am no exception to that too.

Good luck getting insured, most companies want more than 1k+ for me at 19 with 1 NCB, pass pluss, driving 2 years, garaged in nice area etc etc, on a 1.6 fiesta D:
That's just bad luck. I wouldn't pay over £1,500 for <175hp

I mean, I'm 19, 0 NCB, fault claim, 18 months driving, parked on street in admittedly a pretty reasonable area and I pay a little over £1,000 comprehensive on a 113hp 1.8L 16v Xsara!

I'm 19, 2 years NCB, parked on street, ok area and i pay £880 for Fully Comp insurance on my modded (declared mods too) 140bhp 2.0 Hyundai Coupe, 0 - 60 in 8.27 seconds on my GMeter thingy. Most people including NUD wanted the same amount for TPFT. I'm with RAC btw.

elephant and admiral are practically the same company and i always get lower quotes with admiral, insurance is controlled by the mystic forces that hide deep within the universe

Admiral basically are:

Admiral (Duh!)
Bell
Diamond
elephant.co.uk
Gladiator Commercial
Confused.com
Inspop.com

Consumer facing, that is. A few more limited entities as well. Evidence of this is when I phoned them this morning, I got through to Richard at Diamond car insurance!

tbh!

I'd say a 21y/o age restriction on a group 20 car is not unreasonable, sure at £3Kish its a performance bargain, but the insurers have to think about what you might do to other road users.

Funny enough Admiral did this to me about 4 years ago. I bought an Alfa GTV which they quoted a few hundred quid more than my Primera which had about 6 months left on the policy.

When I came to renew the policy they said I had to be 30 to insure that car??? I was 29 and 10 months old but there was nothing they could do. Strange it could be changed mid policy but not when renewed. Did it online with Elephant and it went straight through.
