Intel 80GB x25-M plus Windows 7 and SSD toolbox??

Thanks for that Meds ;) Ok could you please tell me were you got the New FW from and how do you install it. Can it be done from a cd ?
Thanks mate

Sure Bud,

Well I got the update from the link that Zo1d kindly provided:

Here's the link to the Intel website, you'll be able to download an iso image and a pdf file which details the installation guidelines. Basically just download the iso, burn it to a CD, and then simply boot off the CD to flash the SSD firmware.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18363

The file you download is a bootable ISO, so you just burn that to a CD, and then use that to boot up your system once you have the SSD physically installed.

P.S: Windows 7 Professional seems to take a long time to install :( Im only at like 31% of expanding the windows files, and I reckon thats probably about 20% through the installation process

Nice one mate. Well the good thing is i now know i need to put the new FW update on it. That seems to be going very slow for a ssd drive

Lol, It was running really slow, then all of a sudden its on "Setting up your computer for first use" :)

Hows it going Meds

Guys can you use programs like TuneUp Utilities 2010 on ssd drives

So far so good, system is much more reponsive. I finally get what people meant about the snappier feel. All in all I'm very happy about the upgrade ( I get 7.8 for hdd score in win 7).

Will download some of the bench mark programs to give it a good test run. Let me know how your one goes man. Should be nice and easy.

Glad it all went good for u man ;) Will let u know how mines goes as soon as it turns up. So do u think there worth the money for the extra speed u get from them

:)

Once the latest firmware is installed, just to note you don't need to have the toolbox (to run manual trim) when your only os is windows 7, as trim is handled automatically. Assuming of course your using the native storage drivers.

also, readyboost is disabled when there's an ssd primary hd

So far I would say that the Investment was definately worthwhile humax. But will put it through its paces on the weeked hopefully.

Couple of questions dudes

1) Do you need to align the drive if your not using RAID?
2) How can I see that Windows 7 is actually running trim?

Thanks dudes

1) Yes, aligning has nothing to with RAID.
2) run (as admin)

fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

If the result is '0' TRIM is enabled.
