Intel are racist!

I think you'll find that this ad proves Intel aren't racist. They probably looked at that ad and thought - one IT Manager and 6 Athletes. Skin pigmentation probably entered their heads.

Sadly I find more and more losers using their skin colour as an excuse for why they are failing to be successful in their chosen field. These people are ethnically self-challenged and they need to understand that most people under the age of 40 aren't actually racist and the reason they are failing to get a promotion/better job/degree etc. is the fact that they aren't working hard enough, or they're just not as good as they should be in their chosen field.

And this carp shouldn't be in CPU's anyway. Please move it to General Drivel where it belongs.

Agreed If a white person doesn,t get promoted does he say hmm I must be a white Loser ? No he just says that sucks, ethnic people in the minority in the work place will think hmm Its because im ethnic.

lol i don't see the problem as its not like they have just picked a load of black guys, they've picked 1 black guy and copied the image, and he's blatently a runner, lol.

All white middle aged men wear beige slacks, now that is offensive

I think these sort of things speaks more about the individuals making the complaint than it does about the image itself.

I agree with you here completly.

All this thread says is that people like to read into things far more than is intended.

Makes you question peoples Integrity.

This advert say to me that white people can't run and this I find is unacceptable. What does intel have against the whites? :(

i do graphic design, and i would love to meet the fool who thought of putting this up on a billboard :/

rather obvious from the moment you first look at it.
the best way to edit that image is to place a black man in the centre.

e.g the coach for the team

rather silly add though, i can think off a lot better ways to sell a intel chip!

You do graphic design but you dont do marketing :) I dont either but i have done in the past. they saw it coming. "Any publicity is good publicity" springs to mind. Its the same with the Mars bars and the using some meat byproduct so non veggies couldnt eat it. I dont believe it was a mistake; and it gave Mars 3-4 days of free primetime advertisement on newspapers and more importantly news channels at 1pm 2pm 3pm 4pm 5pm 6pm 7pm 8pm 9pm 10pm - get my drift ;)

it wont get taken down either, if it is indeed a true poster from intel. Also the number of complaints doesnt mean it will get taken down (if they see it as what it is, atheletes in their starting blocks symbolising top pc's ready to blow anything you can chuck at it).

EG. i recall an advert by BT. Where they were advertising something like friends and famillies. Basically they had people who were always on the phone and when they went to work or out playing tennis etc their head was tilted to one side due to talking on the phone too much. The governing body for complaints (ofcom?) received only 3-4 complaints but the ad was immediately taken down. Reason was there is a very very rare condition that makes someone's head tilt to one side and it may be seen that they were taking the mickey.

If ofcom dont see intel as taking the mickey out of black people then it will be fine. And if we are all honest they are not, most of the top sprinters are black so Intel are really only representing what is a true realistic majority.

I find it funny how we live in a world where people are more concerned about the colour of their skin, than what they have achieved. It is true that the vast majority of top sprinters are black, yet they start moaning when Intel pay complement to them by showing this on their advert? Also, isn't it true that the majority in the IT sector are white?

I personally would be more offended if they showed all the runners as white and the dude in the middle being black.

Someone could also look at it another way & say. . . why are all the athletes black, whitemen inferior athletes. . . its all aload of rubbish.

At the end of the day it doesnt matter does it, people look into advertising etc way too seriously, everyone is equal who gives a crap what or who is on advertising we are all the same, end of story.

People get offended over the most trivial of things, its not surprising that everything gets blown out of proportion.

Tbh i fail to see any top black athlete or any black person really moaning about this, not sure how you came to that conclusion.

The day an image like that can be published and it spark no debate other than questioning whether Intel are right in their claim is the day that racism is truly dead.

Intel arn't being racist, technically neither is anyone else who spots the innuendo, but it shows the concept of racism is still right at the front of most of our minds. Whether we are spotting it and abhoring it or actively encouraging it, as long as the concept is kept alive it wont ever truly go away.

whether we agree that this is racist or not, we can all agree that this is a good advertising campaign/single poster. It's not even stuck up on a wall yet and we have 58 replies and close to 1500 views on OcUK forums alone. This is what its all about.
