***INTEL COMET LAKE 10TH SERIES NOW AVAILABLE!!***

3600 (non x) has the i5 10500 and i5 10400 in the same price range which are 6 core 12 thread parts as well.

The Intel parts are actually price competitive, but expect higher power usage for similar performance to the Zen 2 equivalent.

Which will you plump for?

it'll be interesting to get a real user response to how these function, and if they burn the house down or not

Will go the 10900K. I know from a value for money perspective there are better options but I only game and want the best possible. Will be using my 1080ti whilse I wait for next gen nvidia cards.

ALmost pulled the trigger few times on the 9900K, so i've done my waiting.

Asus Prime Z490-M plus. It hasn’t shipped yet but the CPU has. Going to be Sod’s law that one part arrives before the other! CPU I ordered is I7-10700k, upgrading from and I5-4690k

Nice one. I bought all of the Zen 2 (3700X etc) parts to update my PC, but got cold feet and sold them. I know that Intel doesn't make sense on any level, but when my friends say things like "the last two AMD chipset drivers didn't work for me", I get really worried and it brings back the PTSD I had when I ran AMD graphics cards :p I've had my 4770K system for 7 years and it's been absolutely flawless.

my I5-4690K treated me well for the last 6 years but its just not quite hacking it any more. So sure I get that AMD is technically better and cheaper but I want to stick to my guns and go with what im going with :) and I am sure and I7 this time will keep me going for a few years longer than my old I5! im just sop hyped for it all to arrive! also treated my self to a 1tb 970 EVO m.2 just to make the whole thing nice and speedy. Got a 2070 super in december too.

I was somewhat in the same boat, coming from a 6700k though, gaming only. I think that a decent Z490 board and the i5-10600k makes the most sense (upgrading to a 10nm i9 later in the year)... But with the cost of a decent board factored in, £200 extra for the 10900k didn't seem so bad, and I couldn't help myself.
