Arctic Sound, as it transpires will have a gaming variant as well. Which means we are going to be seeing this in the mainstream in a few years. The tentative timeline given for this product is by 2020 and knowing how roadmaps work could even be further off. According to Ashraf’s sources, the Arctic Sound discrete GPU will be an MCM module with multiple dies connected via EMIB and will go head to head against Intel and AMD’s offering. So here it is folks, its (unofficially) official: Intel is entering the graphics card market to take on the Red-Green duopoly although considering their working relationship Intel and AMD might have a friendlier relationship then NVIDIA.

Hopefully this is true. It would be good to have a bit more competition in the GPU space, especially with the funds and resources Intel could throw behind it.

Intel in the gpu market.. I'll give that one a miss, Intel just can't seem to do software so whatever comes of it will no doubt be crippled by utterly rubbish drivers.

I hope I am wrong though.

I tried gaming on an Intel integrated GPU when I phoned my mate. 'It looks just like it does on Intel and AMD! I can't tell the difference!' 'That's amazing!' He said, 'what about the FPS?' He asked. 'I'm not sure' I said, 'the second frame hasn't appeared yet!'

Bit late for April fools.

Only Intel could call a graphics card Arctic Sound seems a bit like fake news. Dont doubt the potential release just the name. Golden rule of marketing dont confuse the consumer.

This is one dodgy new article - Intel going against Intel ?! :)

Interesting.

Think 2020 probably will be very tough year for AMD, Intel and Nvidia.

Apple to dumped both Intel CPU and AMD GPU to design Apple own CPU and GPU designs for ARM based iMac due to launch in 2020.

Intel to severed partnership with AMD to supply fake Vega M GPUs to launch Intel Arctic Sound discrete GPU in 2020.

All 3 AMD, Intel and Nvidia will have very tough 2 fronts to compete to gain GPU AIB marketshare for the first time in 2020 since late 1990s with 3 GPU competitors 3dfx, AMD and Nvidia.

It possible Nvidia now switched GPU roadmap back to 12 months cycle with Turing launch in 2018 then Ampere in 2019 and post Ampere in 2020 to keep up in pace with Intel and AMD.

1 Intel Arctic Sound GPU to compete with post Ampere GTX 1330/1350
2 Intel Arctic Sound GPU to compete with post Ampere GTX 1350 Ti/4060
3 Intel Arctic Sound GPU to compete with post Ampere GTX 1370/1370 Ti
4 Intel Arctic Sound GPU to compete with post Ampere GTX 1380/1380 Ti

Intel have demonstrated that they aren't capable of great graphics. This thing will be of no interest to anyone here.

Tell that to the purple shirts. Sorry black shirts. I was in that shop the other day buying a micro sd card and I overheard a salesperson tell a customer that "yes its an Intel CPU its one of the latest Coffee Log series" No lie.

The sad thing is that person still knows more than 90% of people out there. I work in IT and I overhear people talking about how it's best because it's the new 8th gen i7 without knowing anything else.

On the other hand.

While someone might know better they may also know it is not worth running into a wall of incomprehension to condense a few years IT knowledge into a conversation of less than 10 minutes with someone who knows nothing but wants something.

Perhaps a blend of lying and being psychic is required to get through such things.

If they pull it off, it’ll be great.

Nvidia have had no competition for years, and we’re seeing the results.

Ryzen has injected some proper income and whilst Vega hasn’t affected the top tier gaming market, they’ve sold very well. It’s almost as if wanted their cards to be hoovered up by the mining cartel ;)

If AMD can get their act together with their newfound success, and intel release something actually viable, we may start to see proper innovation and competitive pricing for the first time in years.

I won’t hold my breath though :D

Good to see another company enter the GPU space. Competition is badly needed as AMD have been ******* useless for years now.

They mention hitting the market with a bang. I wonder what customers expectations will be regarding performance.

Well if Raja is in charge of it can we assume now it will be about the same performance as a year old Nvidia gpu and use more power :)
Really though it will be good if intel are competitive as having 3 major plays should help with performance/feature jumps and lower cost.
