Ya i3 now occupy old i5 pricing, i5 is old i7 and i7 quad is now priced at what the E bottom tier 6 core was.

still, i find the fact that a new i3 is barely as fast as a 5 year old i5 quite disappointing. especially when the 2500k was like £160

Yeah the price is stupid. Plus dual core with hyperthreading really isn't going to cut it in gaming for much longer.

4.8Ghz and you have to pair it with very high end memory.

I think the biggest problem othre than the price will be AM4 boards and the Bristol Ridge/Zen CPU line up.

Intel really are giving enthusiast the short end of the stick thinking about how things have changed over the years.
