Intel i7 Haswell-E right around the corner

Ill hold off on anymore upgrades until skylake comes out. Time to tighten the purse strings, 4 cpu's in 18 months Ono so far. Would still like another gtx 780 though.

September is going to be another expensive month :p

No I must resist, disable internet from September 1st just to be safe:-D

I'll stay here until skylake I think. Or until ddr4 is cheaper:)

I get bored ;)
Chop and change hardware nearly as much as you. Don't even play games :p

lol I'm a big gamer, but I like to change PC cases like you change your whole hardware :D

Haha, you a Bencher then? Or just like messing around with the hardware?

I like games just as much as movies tbh. Back into BF4 at the mo, it's been awesome to play with 290X Tri-X and now Titan Black.

Into a bit of benching to. Problem I can see is that guys with 6/8 core Haswell's are gonna be getting such higher scores, to have any chance of keeping up might have to grab an Haswell -E chip..

That 5960X looks tempting, not sure how well it'll clock though..

Dat price though :(

This makes total sense, if I can control my impulse to buy the latest stuff (Not likely) I would do exactly the same..

The only way I can see this happening is me living in the wilderness with no internet for about the 6 months after Haswell -E launches :p

5960X its just gonna eat everything in its path, fastest cpu ever when its released

just need a second mortgage to buy it

EDIT: I cant see ddr4 being anymore expensive tbh

Just like buying stuff, i actually have a problem :)
Whether it's second hand or brand new, makes no difference just like buying things :p

They've made it so the 60X has something over the 30k as well, so having to fork out the extra ££ makes it more worthwhile, going to sting though.

DDR4, wasn't there a slide showing first retail batches being 20-30% more expensive than like for like DDR3? What is a great deal cheaper than i was expecting.

maybe the high end stuff idk, once it becomes mainstream it will get cheaper anyway, then ddr3 prices will rise same as ddr2 is now once they stop making it

the regular run of the mill ddr4 I cant see it being anymore expensive than current ddr3

Yeah, expensive. Think I might just have to endure the cost though, sell some parts I have lying around etc. I am actually really impressed with this Z97 + 4790K, better than I expected, does 4.9Ghz @ 1.38v, but that has actually just made me think how awesome these soldered 6 and 8 core chips are gonna be :p

Yeah well I'm with you there bud :), logically I look at things and think I don't need that, than I'll stumble across a good deal and get it anyway :p It's not so bad if you're getting good prices on things. Sometimes selling parts sooner means you get more of your cost back rather than keeping things for ages and they depreciate in value much more..

Thing with the Haswell -E is, I think it will be so much better that in a sense it will be justified :D

imagine how much better your chip would have been with a soldered die;)

I personally can't wait to get one of these. I won't be planning
on upgrading again to a new platform for at least 2-3 years.

My current system in my sig has served me pretty well the past
years but is now outdated and holding me back on performance
especially when it comes to Graphics Cards and SSDs.

I was thinking of upgrading again on Haswell-E,but tbh what's the point? I'll wait awhile until ddr4 is well established and cheaper. Cause when ddr4 hits retail prices will hit the roof at the beginning. Skylake sounds about right :)
