Yeh, AMD would have had me at that price when I was buying, Alderlake got me instead.

Surely preorder means they sold out at the higher price? So they couldn't have sold more at a lower price.

Maybe, but they prob bought previous stock at higher price too, so took awhile to shift..or they made enough from previous stock to hold bCk remaining and sell when thry grt rest in... Who knows, but at £199 its competitive again

Raptor Lake will be out by the end of the year, Zen4 might be also. Should be good competition

We know that RPL will be last cpu for that platform, and Zen 4 won't be only cpu for AM5, there will be at least Zen 5, and very high chance for Zen 6.
Guess both Raptor Lake and Zen4 could be delayed to 2023, anything is possible with today's global supply problems. That said, as Zen4 is a brand new platform for AMD, it's more likely to be delayed compared to Raptor Lake. This is due to Raptor Lake being a drop in upgrade for existing Z690 motherboards.
I'd prefer Zen4, AM5 are launched in a very mature state, with no big bugs or glitches on launch. Will be a very good platform to upgrade to (if performance is there) due AM5 likely lasting 5-7 years+ with many new generations of CPU's.
