Zzz

Hope they flop, way higher priced than AMD.

And

It has been confirmed that both Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X will not be using a soldered IHS, instead relying on a thermal compound for heat conductivity.

But we shouldn't have to resort to de-lidding on X-series chips.

One of the reasons I've always ran the top-end platform from Intel was down to proper construction.

28 lanes for such expensive CPU's is lame, it can be a pain in the ass because it means having to put the graphics card in the slot nearest the CPU to run full speed, so if you have a big cooler it barely leaves any room.

No solder? Even my 5820k has it.

Honestly, the price isn't that bad all things considered. The 6950x was ~$1700 at launch for a 10 core 24 thread cpu for comparison! I'd still never buy a chip this expensive but I was expecting to to cost more.

I was expecting it to be much more then tbh so a somewhat surprising price. Lower then expected though not sure if that's a good thing or that I have become so used to high prices :D

Will be intresting to see what its base clock and turbo clocks are like as though as some impressive clocks for the lesser CPU's like 7900x.

If Thread Ripper is competitive, Intel are shooting themselves in the foot by continuing their ludicrous pricing scheme.

Both results even though improved are using LN2, we need to see real world results. So I am guessing we will see 4.5 to 4.7 GHz on air / water from these chips then but they will need to be de-lided.

Don't understand why the 6 core part is clocked so slow? It should be 4.0ghz base I would have thought.

The 6950X price was or is atrocious though.

I would have thought a 200-300hz increase over the 6950x for the 7900X with far greater memories, at the below timings 3400mhz was around the norm/max
