INTEL NUC BAREBONES THAT FITS IN YOUR HAND!!!!

been looking at one of these to replace my old atom ion based pc as the mrs wants more space on the desk, is the fan noisey under heavy use?

min-itx is much bigger

my main rig is ITX i bought one of these to sit under my TV and to be used as a media PC. I also leave this on all the time and use it to access my home network from outside.

The low electricity usage is the big thing for me on this it uses much less than most custom systems.

I have had my NUC since December and it has been faultless think i have rebooted it a handful of times and it works brilliantly as my HTPC playing anything. I have a 500gb USB hard drive running from it for storage and also my Freenas micro server.

If i did not play games i would have one of these as my main machine.

It is worth bearing in mind also that the NUC kits do come with a VESA mount included in the box, together with the necessary mounting screws!

They might not be the cheapest option around, but they do have their uses, as well as being quite small, and very 'cute'! ;)

I just got one of these for my step son. Plugs onto the back of his tv. Streams films, music, internet, home work. All hidden away on the back of the tv. Only thing you see in the room is the keyboard. I do like the idea.

am i right that aside from one sporting a ethernet connection and another a thunderbolt they are both specced the same?

Yep pretty sure that's the case.

Got 8 of the ethernet ones arriving tomorrow, going to be VESA mounting them on to monitors.....just need 8 really really short HDMI leads now, this is the one bit that really lets them down! 0.5metre or even 0.25m hdmi leads are practically non-existent it seems.

you need these mate

it has hdmi or you could use a usb dac to get tos link

made the mistake of ordeing sodimms from elsewhere and while the nuc has shipped and i already have a msata drive the mem wont be here till tuesday now:/ shoulda ordered it all from here

Considering one of these to replace my very old passive Via Epia based system. It can't play HD and I'm stuck using S-Video out on it.

Any long term owners care to chime in on their experiences? My epia system has been happily using the same windows install for 9 years and is silent apart from the HDD. I'm thinking the fan in the NUC will probably be quieter than the old 2.5" HDD.

Been using the Celeron version as my media player using Open Elec, Playing Hi-Def movies without issue. Only time I hear the fan is when scrolling the fan art and the room is silent.

Pretty much cant fault it.
