hmmm I am tempted to switch from my Q6600 which sits at 3.2 GHz all day every day rock solid...I had it at 3.4 GHz but I think my 4 X 1Gb of RAM might of been a problem for its memory controller.

I game a whole lot so I guess the E8500 if it clocked in excess of 3.6 GHz would be better for me than my quad ??:confused:

Than again the Q9550 looks like the chip for me
 
well they wont be getting money out of me till the price drop, so i guess its down to which e-tailer pulls there finger out the fastest :P

Same here , in the middle of buying parts for my upgrade I have some nice new parts waiting at home. Gigabyte Intel P35 mobo and 4GB of Corsair DDR2 XMS2 DHX PC2-6400C4DHX, just wait for the Q9550 price to drop now :D

Lucky! Might have a look round there myself for a new CPU, normally overpriced though so you got a bargain!
 
Slowly but surely we're getting there! Maybe sometime next month the price will have dropped properly at this rate!
 
August 10th will probably be the main date for drops and the introduction of the new chips.
 
Well it was the other date mentioned, and since very little has happened since the 21st, it's quite possible that the 10th August will prove to be the main date.

All speculation ofcourse ;)
