Intel price drop 21/22 July

Cant wait till August 10th :( Just grabbed one off an auction site for £99.50 including delivery brand new!

Well it was the other date mentioned, and since very little has happened since the 21st, it's quite possible that the 10th August will prove to be the main date.

All speculation ofcourse ;)

I would agree. I have seen E8600 on pre-order now for the 10th AUgust for just above what e8500 were selling for before this weeks special.

Ah well, cant complain at price I got mine, just hope it comes in a few days! Need to find a xigmatek cooler nice and cheap aswell!
Wouldnt mind the E8600 but can't afford it :(

Is the Q9400 likely to be below £130?
Was set on an E8400, then an E8500, but the prices keep dropping :(

As around £130 is my limit, a sub-£100 E8400 would be nice. Is there a huge difference between that and the E8500?

oh damn, i'm getting so excited lol.

I can't decide whether to buy now or wait 2 weeks for the price drop. If there is going to be one!

I'm upgrading from a p4 3.06ghz overclocked to 3.4ghz and its still struggling to keep up with TF2 when the action on screen starts getting crazy.

The ability to multitask my cpu is the most appealing thing for me though... :D

Yeah my TF2 is 90fps when nothing is going on and down to 25~ when it gets busy. I was going to wait for Nehalem, but I think an upgrade is in order with these price drops. E8400 @ 4Ghz+ please :)

The 9450 will hardly drop at all, a few pounds maybe, but the retailers will likely try to get rid of all the 9450's as its been discontinued. The 9400 on the other hand should be considerably cheaper, as its replaceing the 9300 which like the 9450 is being discontinued.

The 6600 drops in price slightly, the 6700 gets discontinued.

The 9400 should be around £150+vat.

9400 coming in at same price as 9300 which it replaces so you are right with your £150+ vat.

with the 9550 dropping to £206 (same as 9450 is now), when they are selling the last of the q9450 stock it will have to be between the price of a q9400 and a q9550 (£176 - £206) or they won't sell any.

However, I would always pay the £10-£15 extra to get the q9550 anyway.

Yeah I've seen that on the roadmap but I think it's going to be a step backwards tbh.

Only 4mb cache compared with the 8mb of the q6600. Although the q9xxx clock per clock are faster than the q6xxx, a lot of that might be down to the extra cache.

There is a fair chance the q8000 with 4mb cache might not be any quicker than a q6600 and it might not overclock as well.

Retailers have had plenty of warning about the planned price drop, Pretty sure they will simply try to shift everything they have before the price drops come. Look at OcUK, they have 3 Q9550s, and have shaved a few pounds off the Q9450's. They may manage to shift and remaining 9450's to people who want the lower multiplier. Sure, they might drop a little more, but as the chip is being discontinued, I wouldnt expect them to really drop much. They will just disappear.

i bought an E8500 yesterday for 99 inc vat from a very reputable company
today i look at the price there and there 124inc vat
is this a price error by them ? or do you think they upped the £££ coz there in demand ?
