The latest Intel Rapid Storage Tech Driver was released in August and I didn't see any threads relating to the latest release.

I didn't even know it was out until today and was met with me being 8 driver updates behind :D, although I kinda remember going back a driver due to BSODS

12.8.0.1016. = Latest as of Today

Cheers for the heads up Neil, iirc i just used the one that came with my mobo. Knowing asus and their lax attitude to updates, it's probably quite old.

The Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).

and

Faulting application name: IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe, version: 12.8.0.1016, time stamp: 0x51fb0c50 Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

I've been getting a lot of these lately in event viewer. Searching the forums brings up this thread

System is running fine, no crashes, freezes games work fine e.t.c

No probs. My browser regularly checks Station Drivers for Intel RST updates - it's a lot easier to find stuff than the Intel site!

I usually steer clear of the betas and just use the WHQL so as not to take too many risks with my data.

Am I right in thinking you only need to install the driver and not the application? Other than displaying device details and drive health I can't see the application does anything else.

It allows you to set many things, such as caching type, smart response, link power, etc. Also allows you to to a verify on volumes, etc.
