Hi,
I'm running an Intel SSDSA2CW080G3 in my Toshiba Portege R500 with Win7 Ultimate. 2GB RAM, approx. 15GB disk space remaining.

Initially things were great but recently performance has dropped significantly.

It's most noticeable when booting up or waking from hibernation.

And it freezes at random points, sometimes while the initial Toshiba logo is displayed when I first power on, sometimes while the Windows startup logo is displayed.

Edit - when I say freeze, I'm talking up to a minute and sometimes more.

Any thoughts?

Not sure, but in your place I'd be taking a fresh image of the drive before it gets any worse. Once you have a good image then you might try running a secure erase on it before restoring your OS and data. Parted Magic is your friend here.

If you're getting freezes as early as the BIOS flash screen then there's a high probability that its hardware. But you're right, there's no harm in checking out your OS. You may have a dodgy start-up program or a driver that's hanging.

The first thing to do is check the windows event log for clues. And have you tried running a clean-boot? There's a KB article in the link below that will guide you through it...
