Intel SSD's any good ?

I bought a an Intel 80GB X25 three years ago & not looked back, unlike the Sandforce based SSD's from that period.

As you asked, my 80gb X25 failed after two and a half years.

There are no widespread reports of Intel failures, so please ignore this post. :D

Not had a single problem with the fair few Crucial and Samsung SSDs that I`ve installed though.

I think the rule is - don't buy OCZ (well, certain OCZ models, at least).

And more importantly, whatever you buy, backup important data.

no known issues with intel ssd's

Samsung crucial and intel are all the most reliable by far.

There was an issue with the Intel 320 drives not long after they first came out. If they lost power without properly powering down they would screw up and you would lose your data and you had to return it. It was all sorted with a firmware update but we did have a few go down. That was really the only issue from a couple of thousand drives.

chears guys I have ordered the one I mentioned a really good price too 120 great british pounds from looking at like for like models the only one faster was the corsair force not sure what model ive forgoton.

ive always been told to avoid ocz but ive been using a small 60g for my temp boot drive and it has worked without an issue. Ill post some findings when it comes tomorrow.

For the record I have an Intel 510 120GB (Elmcrest) which I got as a warranty replacement for an OCZ Vertex 2E 160GB. The Intel has been very reliable and has been running for about 2 years without issue. It also has the best upkeep software out of Samsung, Crucial and Intel. (The three most reliable drives I know, though my Corsair P128 is still going solid.)

My x25m is still going strong and must be closing in on 3 (or perhaps more) years service.

I wouldn't go Intel for anything else PC related, but I can't fault their SSD's. A solid choice. :)

Yep. My 520 is solid as a rock. Unlike some of the other Sandforce controlled drives I've read about on Haswell... But then Intel did spend a whole year testing and refining the controller with Sandforce before they put them on the market.

I've also got a 320 in a laptop that's never skipped a beat either.

It'd have to be something really special to turn me away from Intel SSDs.

I love my Intel 520, its been excellent and I'd happily recommend it - though I'm very tempted to get a Sammy 840 Pro in my other machine. Nothing like sitting on the fence :)

Can also upgrade firmware to 335u as it came out about 2 weeks ago. Just install Intel SSD Toolbox and it will download and install firmware for you.

If I was choosing out of a load of Sandforce drives i'd have the Intel ones, but I wouldn't pick them over say, the Samsung 840 or the Crucial M4/M500.

Intel's firmware is very good but I believe they weren't able to smooth out all of Sandforce's bugs.

Well I went with the Intel 335 180gb, and done the firmware update, and installed W8. She's been running like a dream for just about 10 days now, and between my Samy, OCZ, and the Intel according to the HD Tune benchmark the Intel is the quickest, I can't remember the speeds of the top of my head, I'll post some screen shots next run on it's next run. However I will be changing it soon for the new black and yellow Kingston hyper x 3K 240gb I'm going to put a pre order in on Monday.
