With these drives getting tantalizingly close to the SATA II limit, is there any indication when we can expect Sata III?

SAS 6Gbps drives are just about to be released so maybe we will see SATA-III in the next 6-12 months.

What RAID controller was used with the HD Tach benchies? (I don't believe a standard motherboard controller can handle that kind of bandwidth)

I'm not convinced that real world results are going to see much difference between a single drive and 2 or more in RAID 0. Unless proven otherwise, I don't think you will actually see much difference in gaming etc. Maybe in video editing. Happy to be proven wrong though

There's an interesting review in the Crimbo edition of CustomPC - although I'm not always impressed with their testing.

A single drive is worth having and seem to be the SSD drives that we have been waiting for.

I think your right in the sense that you might be a half decent raid card to handle more than one of these in raid 0, but i think the true advantage would not be in gaming but in windows day to day use.

I'm seriously considering a raid 0 setup using say 2-3 OCZ V3 (when they come out) as a vista / games drive.

I'm guessing they've been done on an Intel ICH10 equipped motherboard.

That's great news - intel's controllers have always been good, but this seems to be a real step up in quality. Nice to know we won't be needing expensive add in cards to really take advantage.

They might start to be sensibly priced in 2010, but it will be interesting to see the progression in the tech over 2009.

i am waiting for a 160gb...and it to become resonable....SSD is the way foward, so quick.
