INTEL X25-V VALUE 40GB 2.5" SATA-II SOLID STATE HARD DRIVE @ £92.99 inc VAT

Thats right mate.

Stick the image of your OS onto a normal HDD, split the SSD RAID and enable Legacy IDE mode in the BIOS, boot into DOS and run HDDErase and perform a secure erase on both SSD's, rebuild the array, run the Acronis boot disk, then re-image your OS from the image on your HDD.

Thanks very much for this.

Imaging software like TrueImage, Ghost or HDClone doesn't need Windows to restore a disk image. You boot the program directly from a CD, tell it what image file to use and what drive to restore to and bingo, job done.

Remeber that Windows 7 allows you to create an image of one or more drives in the same way. You can restore from an image by booting from the Win 7 install CD, no need to install the OS first.

I've already done this on my Win 7 system.

My x2 40gb Kingstons have arrived woo hoo

Personally waiting until much later in the year or into next when the drives are worth it in terms of price/size.
