Interested in getting a bike, help?

Honda reckon my CBF will do 125mpg... I still doubt that although even 100mpg is damn good when out of my 3 cars none of them average above 25mpg :D

I used to get 330+miles out of a tank which works out around 130/140mpg so you should easy. Mine were 45mins of a roads so perfect conditions, short stop start maybe not.

Saved me a fortune, my 750cc now gets about 45mpg at best, depressing but fun :p

I also switched from car to bike and I get 45-50mpg from my CBF500. The main thing I like is I can shave 15-20 mins off a journey while still getting the same mpg. In the car I have to really hold myself back to get reasonable mileage which is just no fun.

First time ive been in the bikers cafe and didn't realise there was another thread about it all. Everyone is just helping me out a bit here, give us a break.

I never actually thought about height here. At 6 3' maybe I should get one like yours.

That wasn't directed at you :D. This forum has been weird recently in that it won't post your post, then you try again and it posts twice.
Just like Craig said, I was referring to the forum. It's been really dodgy latelly takes good 30-60 seconds to post something...

The varadeo is quite I nice bike too. What other decent nakeds/supermotos should I be looking at?
With your height go for Varadero or Derbi Terra is another choice you have.

Ah sorry I thought you was moaning about the thread basically wrong a double post not the actual posts. Sorry for that :D I'll have another look at bikes this evening and start looking at booking my CBT too. Might no get a bike for a while but I wouldn't mind having the license to do so.

I'm 36, I passed my test on Dec 1996 so I believe I dont need to do a CBT, but considering I've never ridden a bike before, I think it maybe wise.

I'm considering going the whole hog and eventually going direct access so I can get a real weapon.

Yeah I think you have a full moped licence on there, don't you? If you passed before 2001 or something like that.

You can only rde a 50cc without L plates. If you want to ride a 125 you still have to do a cbt I believe. It's very strange.

Just ride a 50cc without l plates or do cbt and then ride a 125 with l plates :p

Haha already got the PC's as one addiction. I have a thing for costly addictions apparently. Gonna pick up a part time job when I go back to uni this year to save for my A2, bike and gear etc. I'll also use what left over from all my full time summer work. Genuinely really excited to feel the freedom of a bike. A car is amazing as it is, I can't stand public transport. :D

I can't stand public transport either, freezing on bus stops, wait times. When you want to stay later at your friends you need to worry and keep looking at time to not miss it... But 125 is slow, great for beginners who have never had any contact with bikes. As soon as you sit on something bigger even before your A2, your 125 will feel like a toy.

BTW Of course don't drive illegally on public roads, only do it on private property! :p

Edit:

When you pass your A2 the choice of bikes opens up immediately. Even though you can restrict a Sports bike, the insurance is ridiculous for young riders though... :(

Bikes have always interested me. My old girl will never speak to me again if I got one though.

Worth it? CBT and a 125 for pottering to work in. Only 5 miles each way. can be done in 10-15 minutes. Public transport takes me over an hour.

Definitely worth it.
Exactly why I initially pulled my finger out and done my CBT, used to have to leave the house at 7.45 to get to work for 8.45 once I had my 125 I could leave at 8.25 and still get to work early.

Its not the safest form of transport, but damn, its allot of fun. And I never get bored of skipping to the front of queue's of traffic. Its bizarre really, but commuting to work on my bike is often the highlight of the day.

 An hour to go 5 miles! Fuuuu that!!!!

I'm willing to bet public transport would be more expensive day to day than a 125, but you do have the initial cost to put up with, which is around £1500 with bike/kit/CBT.

Work out the cost, bear in mind 125's will do 100+mpg at those sort of speeds, 50 miles a week at a petrol price of 113.9p would cost you the princely sum of... wait for it...

£2.59 a week. :D A tank of fuel would last a month, or more.
