You could've been a bit more diplomatic in your replies but the whole situation does sound pretty ridiculous. It's a shame you didn't have any witnesses for the grilling though as it would be amusing to see them explain to their higher-ups exactly why they felt it was justified to threaten you about your exams and tell you that you deserve to fail.

It doesn't matter if the teachers were wrong. Children should show respect to their elders. Even when you are an adult you need to show respect to people with authority over you whether you think they are wrong and unfair or not.
All schools are like this. When I went to college they assumed the worst out of everyone, and always believed that whatever you did, it was with malice and bad intent. Very often, a lot of students had to get parents and backup to get the teachers to realize that they're overreacting and needs to calm down.
Your attitude didn't seem to help, it only exacerbates the situation and their annoyance with you. You really don't want to throw away your studies like that, especially if you are dedicated to one or more of them.

I expect it's born out of frustration. Teachers must feel pretty helpless half the time with the amount of crap they have to put up with. The things kids get up to and get away with these days is awful. They practically need to murder someone to get expelled.
In or outside of school? Because I can't remember a time when someone got away with something in school.
Outside sure but that's because it's hard to police kids. At school it's as easy as detention, suspension, expulsion.
No it isn't. Schools are under tremendous pressure not to exclude children. Schools actually get fined when they exclude a child.
Hahahaha, oh to be back in school. When i was in College i was sick of the network being flakey and not working, with different access. So one day i decided to do the classic net send * "Fix the network you ****** MONKEYS!"which went to all PC's. They walked into our room and others trying to find out where it came from, so i sent another saying "You dumb ***** im in room X and my name is Matt". I got sent to the Principle of the college who just laughed and said i know how you feel, we all feel like it, but that isn't the right way to do it. None the less it was funny 
Take everything they throw at you with a pinch of salt, take the two victims along and ask them if they have an issue with it. Ask them to bring fourth any previous serious issues you have had at the school. I would ask your mother to speak directly to one of the School Govenors. My misses is a teacher, i'll ask her what she would do. Probably laugh TBH!

Then they punish them. But the point I'm making is teachers don't have to put up with crap. At least the 2 primary and secondary schools I have been to didn't put up with crap.

I did all sorts on our computers and never got in trouble, few policy crackers so I had all access, changing the internal websites logos, using software to open/close all cd drives and so forth. TBH most of the time they was impressed I could do it lol

Teachers DO have to put up with crap on a daily basis. To say otherwise is to be completely ignorant of the situation in schools today. You are speaking from the perspective of a pupil although I don't know how long it is since you were in school. It's possible the pupils in your school were much better behaved or maybe you stuck to a well behaved group, I don't know.
Teachers in this day an age have to put up with a lot, from threats from pupils to actual violence. They may even be under investigation because of false allegations by pupils. You probably have also heard recently in the news the shocking statistics of teachers who have suffered bullying by their pupils. The list goes on and on.
I guess detention, speaking to parents doesn't count as punishment.
Anyway it's my word against yours. We both don't teach (I assume) and I don't live in a chavtastic area where kids run riot so I can't keep arguing.
..... wow, if only teachers were that motivated about stopping things where i work :/ WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over reaction by them, but id like to see there aproach to some of the things kids do at my work!
