All using Wall meter

All Running Idle
570GTX - Using 225-250w of power
7970 - Using 200-250w
7990 - Using 400-450w (ULPS was off so running both cards)
2x 980 -using 100w-130w

Load (Firestrike)
570GTX - Using 350-425w of power
7970 - Using 300-380w
7990 - Using 450-600w (ULPS was off so running both cards)
2x 980 -using 380-450w

i put this together over the years of having gpu's i like power efficiency & very interested in how cooling works.

only went back to a 570 as my 7990 died my system is around 2years old now

980 figures are really impressive. At stock cpu speed and oc'd cards power consumption was a fair bit higher for my setup running fire strike. Peaking at 740w running combined test. Will check again later as I'm browsing on my phone.
 
I'll check my idle use later, but iirc its around 200w. CPU at 4.7ghz on 1.300, fixed vcore for the oc. But my monitor is also plugged into the monitoring unit too. Just moved to a 1000w platinum rated psu a while back.
 
Less power means nothing to the end user. Do you really think for one second, that you start saving money on your power just for using a 980?

Very impressive power usage and thermals must be so much better as well. The heat I get from my case with 3 Titans is bad and the power draw can be over 1400W when benching (reading from the wall).
 
its not the fact of power saving, its the fact of moving tech getting better

& it will save money, if your buying new rig you "could" buy a smaller PSU. but we all love epeen here so no one will:p
 
exactly even my watercooled SLI 780s put out a lot of heat into my room

was a real problem in the summer not so much now as winter is approaching

really considered swapping them out for some 980s due to less power and heat but luckily common sense kicked in

will wait for big Maxwell
 
Seen one user just with non ref 790's in sli, 70 and 55c iirc. Will maybe be lower on ref cards. But then you have to factor in each users mobo spacing, case, and cooling. My own 780's will hit 79/63 at times. Use an fps limit and the top one will only hut 62c. Too many variables with every persons setup to make comparisons.
