Also potentially not having to upgrade an ageing PSU because you've upgraded to more powerful card/cards.
Very true, just recently splashed out on a 1000w psu as I didn't trust my old hx 850 with the spec in sig. Could have kept it and bought two 970's. But hindsight is a wonderful thing lol.![]()
Also potential savings by not having to upgrade an ageing PSU because you've upgraded to more powerful card/cards.
Not that I'm thinking of moving to a pair if 970's.![]()

From what I have seen the 970 sits at 74c in sli this is not much different to my xfire 290s
Mine range from 70c to 77c depending on the game I playing. And msi cooling isn't the best of the 290's I wounder what Tri-X is?

Less power means nothing to the end user. Do you really think for one second, that you start saving money on your power just for using a 980?
Over say 290x?
Lol
Lol?
Yes you do save money using less watts per hour. Let's have a look.
Notional figures.
Say you have a 100 watt difference and you have the card for a year at an average of 6hrs usage per day.
100 x 6 = 600
600 x 7 = 4200 / 1000
=4.2kWs a week
4.2 x 52weeks = 218.4 kWs a year.
Now times that by your kWhr tarrif, say 13p
That is around a saving of 28ish pounds.
So to correct you, yes you do start saving straight away.
Compare a 290x vs 980 under load you hardly saving anything.. What I mean is its not something you will ever notice, Would you honestly notice you saved 28ish pounds in the year?
any news of release date of said Titan cooled 970s ?
What your failing to notice is that you add all your power saving items up together and this can save you hundreds of pounds...Compare a 290x vs 980 under load you hardly saving anything..
