Interesting WOW proposition

I still run old world content on my mage, and she's level 80.

I don't see why you'd have to stick to level 60.

I'd happily raid, I have been raid leader at level 60 in every end game instance, so I know my stuff. I just don't fancy locking my character at level 60.

where is the challenge in doing an instance at 80 when the required level is 60?

no offence, but that takes little skill at all and is totally pointless except for the achievement.

the whole point of being a vanilla raiding guild is you are trying to get as close as possible under the current game mechanics to vanilla raiding, and that is done at level 60 with <300 professions.

I'm not talking about coming over and leveling to 80 and then raiding the old stuff, I'd level a character to 60, get some gear and raid happily.

I wouldn't continue to level, but I wouldn't lock exp gains incase I wanted to level my character.

You can not get back to how vanilla WoW was, it's simple. The changes that classes and talents have undergone have made this near impossible in my opinion.

I'm happy to level up to around 60 and do some raids with you, and a guild, just not happy at locking my exp and stopping the game there.

That's the whole point of this 'proposition'...

It's not going to be like vanilla WoW, I don't mind running old raids, I'm just not stopping one character at 60 to do just that, by all means I'll hit 60 and stop questing and just enjoy raiding, but it's not the same as before.

The feeling of being the second guild on our server to down Raggy for the first time, or getting Patch down in Naxx before, or killing Onyixa and getting the head, first time round were some of my most enjoyable moments in WoW, stopping exp at 60 and just running those is stopping you enjoying what WoW has become. I still hate C'thun.

leveling up, to level 80, is half the game.

OP's idea is essentially what they did with Dark Age of Camelot by introducing "classic" servers, which frankly were on the whole more fun than the regular ones as play was far more simple :)

I don't see why they can't do something like that for WoW folks who don't like the expansions and dont' want to be on servers with people who use them - so things are fair.

 You're contradicting yourself surely?

How ? saying it's good fun but not what it used to be ?

I'll stop questing for a while and enjoy some old school, but no means am I stopping all together at 60. Leveling to 80 is only half the game.

Server: PVE (non rp)
Faction: Alliance
Race: Human
Class: Paladin (tank or dps)

Ultimately, as long as i can tank or dps, im not that bothered if its Horde either :p

If you want this to be realistic you are not allowed to do anything other than heal as a paladin in these raids.

Your druids can only heal.
Warriors tank or go die.
Mage,PyroPom PEWPEWPEW!!

etc etc.

Enjoyed 6o raiding but it is hard to recreate with what the game has changed into.

Maybe I misunderstood but it read like you aren't willing to stop at 60, but you are willing to stop doing quests at 60?

some of you need to read patch notes, you can turn off AND on your xp at any point.

turning off your xp at 60 does not mean your character will forever be level 60.

Then why are you in the thread if you don't want to join in the idea? If you dont want to do it, fine. Dont. Simple.

Have you all picked a server?

I'm willing to spend a while raiding with you and enjoying the old world content. I'm not giving up on leveling to 80. which is what I said.

I'm sure it mentioned paying gold ?

Because I said that I would be willing to raid and enjoy playing old world content, I'm just not going to stop my character at level 60 and I will eventually level to 80.

I loved vWoW because it was new and innovative (in its own way). I loved BWL and AQ40 but do you realise how many man hours were lost over what was basically a cockblock? The game changed from a gear required to a slight amount of skill. This is something for the good as it allows normal ppl to see the game as opposed to hc raiding all day and night for some silly piece to equip the tanks. I know and realise why people dont like the current game but at least it is open. Seriously the instances you so yearn for arent that brilliant esp higen with no deaths allowed!!!
