internal or external for backups?

I plan on buying a 1.5tb drive to back up my pc. The 1.5tb drive will be kept off after I've backed everything I need backed up. I'll only be checking it every few months to make sure its still all there.

Whats best for this sort of thing? An external or internal? or does it really matter?

Doesn't matter, for your use I would buy a caddy for the drive, seems pointless having it internel if ur going to backup so infrequently.
