International Friendlies – England 29/05 & 02/06 *** Spoilers ***

What did Lamps do wrong? Solid performance IMO, and he's always good for the odd 30 yarder.

England didn't look too bad. They were just crap going forward in the first. They looked panicked when they got past the half way line.

Here's one thing, Neymar AGAIN hasn't shown me anything worth going crazy about, it's ridiculous to consider him anything like Messi and Ronaldo.

I've never been impressed with Messi in international football, no reason why Neymar should care anymore than any other international player 90% of the time. Until recently Ronaldo got a fair bit of criticism playing for Portugal too.

The difference is, Ronaldo is surrounded by a load of **** at international level. Brazil are a fair bit better.

Thought Adrian Chiles had a cheek to start making snide comments about the Brazillian broadcaster, consider he's fronting a show for ITV HD who've missed more goals than Torres over the past few years.

Personally if Lampard isn't going to go to the WC he should have been first choice in the qualifiers. I know sometimes injuries get in the way but we should be aiming for consistency and the team developing and the team that's likely to play in the WC playing together as much as possible in the qualifiers.

So was Maradona didn't stop him standing out by a mile. I'm willing to atleast dismiss Neymars international appearances until we see how good he is week in week out in Spain and the Champions League.

He's been poor in large portions of several games I've seen from him, personally he wouldn't get in my Barca team and for that matter I could probably make a case for leaving him out for Brazil too (the likes of Fred have looked much more productive, Neymar seems a right show pony at times, maybe he can be legend of the game who knows but not on current showings).

rooney's out celebrating his goal

Reports in this evenings papers are saying that Sturridge might miss the start of the season with ankle ligament damange.

As if I couldn't dislike international football anymore

No not at all - the qualifiers should be about who you want to go to the next tournement, not who is going to retire (just internationally or fully) before then.

The team has to be used to playing together before they get there, not arrivving and already having to make adjustments for a core part of the team thats missing

England did ok, but nothing more than that. I dont think Hart did anything particularly wonderful in regards to individual saves - although his reactions for that triple save were pretty amazing. He probably deserved MOTM (from an England perspective) but no-one really stood out. Ox's goal had a bit of luck about it but it was still well taken, and Rooney did well for his, but England were lucky not to be down by 3 or 4 already by that point - even though its not their fault Brazil didnt take their chances.

Brazil didnt look that great, but England's usual performance level (especially in the first 1/2) made them look much better than they really are. Germany and Spain for me are much more frightening a prospect in a tournement on the basis of last night.

Regarding Neymar, he's talented for sure but his selfishness is clear to see and a major weakness at the highest level where he cant walk past everyone and score the wonder goal like he can in his domestic game.
Barca and their philosophy could be good for him if he's willing to develop a team ethic, or equally it could destroy his reputation, and thus his future as a 'worldie'

Well that Neymar clearly has talent, he could have had a hat trick within 20 mins.

He has and in his favour hes only 21 as well. He could have had a hattrick last night but like a few people have said, hes far too greedy for my liking...he could have put Brazil up 3-4 goals last night had he decided to pass the ball rather than trying to win the game singlehandedly for Brazil.

Looking forward to seeing him link up with Messi at Barca next season.
