Internet Geekzoids in here please - hosting a 300gb file

I need to allow a friend to download a 300gb file. What would be the easiest way of doing this?

Find at least 10 friends in a close proximity to you who have their own connection and even at 25kB/s each it will still take two weeks to upload.

300GB down the pipe? Forget it. Either split the files up onto DVDs and post them him or give him an actual HDD with it on.

If you are going to send it on HDD, make sure that you send a copy, not the original file, in the off-chance that whoever is delivering it damages it.

i guess its possibly he could locate his nearest wired university, tap into the backbone and enjoy ridiculously fast upload rates? This plan has the added bonus of making you feel like a totally pro hacker.

Good luck setting up a publicly accessibly server on somebody else's network. ;)

Post disks to him. Sneakernet for the win.

Torrents. ;)

Seriously though it is not viable on a home connection with home/premium upload rates.

If it is anything like a uni I visited last week, their "WAM" (wireless internet)'s security is quite poor to say the least. (Authentication at DNS level.) :p

Another vote for buying a hard drive from OcUK of course.
