Ugh, and only it's only 20GB monthly download allowance too :(

all for the wonderful price of only £23 per month, excluding line rental and calls of course.

Just reading my package's "benefits" on Eircom's website makes me sick:
"- 2M/256K"
"- Always on"
"- 20 GB download"
"- Free email address for Webmail"


They say all this like its a good thing...always on...wtf, Oooh! broadband that's always on you say? that's some new-age **** right there! and a free email address for that new-age mail that you send over the interwebs?? amazing!

Sad thing is Eircom are Ireland's largest ISP and this is actually one of the country's "better" broadband packages :o

Their fastest 6MB/512 down/up package would set me back a mere £155 a month...bargain... >.>
 
We support eircom's internal mail system, want me to tell them off?

Hi guys, probably the wrong section (again), but today i finally upgraded from 2mb to 10mb Virgin broadband and i cant find a connection test which shows the speed at 10mb?! Please direct me to a decent connection test guys!

They don't do 10mb anymore i thought? 20mb only?

anyway, go to 192.168.100.1 click login details: root:root. Check status and you should be on 10/20mbit profile



Pay for 4mb, get 4mb. :) not bad, although i actually get slightly more than that on downloads and stuff. That speedtest site is pretty poor imo
 
Just upgraded to VM 20mb. They flashed my old modem but that wouldnt support over 10mb but it did run at 10mb.

Engineer Fitted new modem last week speeds are toilet less than 2mb sustained and peters off to 1mb on a large file. engineer came changed modem for a new one no change in speed then checked cable in the street and apparently it was faulty. new cable fitted yesterday speed still pants. long call to broadband help line (just a tip to avoid 25p/min charge go through to cancellations by dialing 150 then option 4 then option 2 and say you are leaving if it isn't sorted and you refuse to pay for support for their faulty product. they put you straight through no charge).

So another engineer booked for next saturday with a request for a senior engineer to be sent hence the delay.

when you click for further details you get RAG results, what are these (they don't look too promising for me :()

Standard ADSL RAG results:
You can receive 2Mbps ADSL
You can receive 1Mbps ADSL
You can receive 512Kbps ADSL
You can receive 256Kbps ADSL
 
The coloured circles beside each line - they're either red, amber and green. Spot the connection with "RAG"?

You're green for all 4, so there's nothing wrong there - but it's no indication of what you might get with IPStream Max.
