I'm currently with Sky BB and use a Netgear DG834GT router.

My download speeds seem atrocious at the moment and the lag I'm experiencing on my Xbox 360 is also ridiculous.

Are there any tests I can do and send them to Sky too look at? Or just so I can see something is wrong myself? Any programs out there?

Thanks

Install Java.

The Sky router should show values for the speed it's connected at, SNR margin and attenuation. Those would be useful.

yeah looking at your connection stats would be a good first start.

This is accessed via entering 192.168.0.1 and login is admin and password is sky.

Im connected at 15323 kbps downstream but recently I used a different socket in my house and my connection went rather horrible to 400kbps.

Which Sky package are you on? If you're on Max the BT speed tester won't work as that uses Sky's own LLU equipment. The stats from your router would be handy (as suggested in a previous post).

I'm on Mid (Up to 8mb)

Is there any stats I can pull off my router for you guys?

This tester is not working at all.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure only Connect is on BT's network. Go to http://192.168.0.1 and enter the user (admin) and password (sky). You can copy and paste the stats from there. Specifically your up/down connection rate, SNR, attenuation etc. They should be in a block together - I think on the first page (Sky's webUI is different to the official Netgear one).

I have the latest Netgear firmware on the router...

DownStream Connection Speed 8128 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps

Where should I fins SNR and attenuation? Can't see them...

Here you go...

Try calling your ISP, it could be them or it could be a fault with your line. With the attenuation/connection speed you have your downloads should be flying!

That shouldn't be a problem, the higher the SNR the better.

Are you using a wireless connection?
If so could you try with it cabled.

Yeah wireless...

I have all my network equipment upstairs so wired connection isn't an option really. Like I said, this has only occured the last few days so I presume it's an ISP issue.

Lower = higher connection speed? they higher it is to create a more stable line but lowers the speed..?

Could be some electrical interference? But i'd say it's down to your IP, sky aren't known for being excellent....are they?
