Interview Attire

This discussion cropped up today between mates as one of them has an interview this week.

Basically he is going to wear a cream/beige suit... now the role is in IT for a bank. My first thought was, you cant wear that as you'd look like a spice boy, harping back to that Cup Final and Liverpool.

However are my views old fashioned? Are beige suits now more suitable for interviews? I suppose the summery weather helps a bit....

Just something thats never occurred to me and want to make sure im not that out of date with things

Tell him to wear a black/blue/grey suit. Black preferably. Cream? That's ridiculous, even if it's summer.

If he can pull it off, and if he looks smart in it, then why not?

I personally wouldn't do it.

Probably not for an interview, but if he really wants to wear it, then I wouldn't discourage him.

I don't know what it is about cream suits, the light summer ones are kinda cool or am I just getting really old?? I'd like a suit like it.

working in a bank he should really wear black imo =x

Edit: Also, you never know what your interviewer is gonna be like, no one is gonna be like "Oh we should hire this guy, his fashionable", they are most likely to think, this guy dresses like a goof ball and probably is one...

When interviewing you should minimise all risk. Wearing a cream suit to a corporate interview is risky. When was the last time you saw someone walking around a British city with a cream/white suit on? Weddings don't count!

He'd have to really pull it off, which I doubt most would.

White is better than cream IF you can pull it off, 99% of men can't.

Will you also be wearing a Panama Hat to go with it? And can we call you The Man from Del Monte?

I almost certainly wouldn't wear a cream suit for an interview (not least because I don't own one) as for an interview as said you normally are better off with safer, more traditional, dark colours.
