Hey, got an interview for a new job next week, was planning on going in a shirt and tie etc... However my friend reckons I should get myself a suit (I don't have one) to go in.

Firstly, personally I dont think I look good in a suit, they don't suit me, (no pun intended) and I think I look better in a shirt and tie... Whats the point in going for an interview if they hire you based on what suit jacket you're wearing... FYI it's not an extremly formal or prestigious job, also I know a few people who work there and have a lot of experience with the company I'm applying with.

What do you think?

Smart shirt and tie should do it. If they mention suits, say you didn't bother as its too warm or something.

shirt and tie is fine but i always get suited and booted when trying to make an impression.

something about people in suits just make them appear more professional. Suits can be had really cheaply these days, ASDA do some great quality suits.

Suit, every job interview should wear a suit. Unless the interview is on a building site or something.

It's about giving the right impression and putting some effort in, not what suite jacket your wearing.

Depends on the job, but I'd say to wear a suit.

Hire one if you don't want to buy one... or buy it and take it back the next day for a refund.

There's not even a choice. It has to be a suit. With your top button done up and your tie done properly. Shine your shoes. Make a good impression or you're playing catch-up from the off.

Suit. The only option tbh.

Your not going out pulling, your going for a job interview. Really doesn't matter if you don't think you look good in one, it's first impresions that count. And speaking generally, that first impression could simply be a 10 second glance while one of the managment team walks past you in reception or soemthing.

A simple answer: SUIT - it's a definite..

If you're lucky to have the interview on a really warm day, you can maybe do without a jacket..
