I think I was wearing swimming shorts and sandals for my last interview. Phone interviews for the win.![]()
I just don't understand how wearing a suit is a good skill.Always a suit, you need to dress to impress and show you mean business. Why give someone an advantage over yourself from the outset just because you aren't dressed properly?
It amazes me that people actually need to ask these questions.
Think I might go have a look, see what I look good in.I used to think that suits just didn't suit me as well - but you just need to get one that fits properly. I have to get slim fitting suits otherwise I just look and feel uncomfortable.
Its a customer support type role for a certain ISP's business Broadband unit. An ISP I have worked for 4+ years in another regard.what job you going for?
Surely it depends on the job? I've read from several places that if you've applied for a job in games development it's best not to wear a suit because the workplace is usually very informal. You would just look out of place in a suit.
But of course, it's probably best to go with a suit unless the job happens to be a game development position.
Yeah but I hear in the games industry is even more informal. A while ago I read a BBC article that had a quote from someone that said it's best not to wear a suit to the interview. Not that the BBC is a particularly reliable source for that sort of information, but I've never read anything that says otherwise.I work for a huge software development company, even though the workplace is very informal (tshirts/shorts/sandles etc..) it is still worth going to the interview in a suit. Most people start off smart and then after a few days go back to informal clothes. Your better to over dress than under dress.
