Provided you've given them the required notice, can they actually prevent you taking holidays? If you're acruing TOIL but don't actually get to use it, then your essentially working for nothing.

Yup it's use it or loose it :( - I have end of Sept to end of the year to use it all up.

disciplinary action depends on each individual company surely ?

If i get caught pulling a strategic sickie, my company class it as gross mis-conduct and can be sacked on the spot.

Best read your contract on that one really.
 
we have to jump thru hoops to get leave at short notice, even then it usually gets declined.... I always thought a give and take attitutde best for employer and employee but most company's dont give a damn tbh

they want their pound of flesh lol

They don't have to give any reason.

Emplyers can dictate when you take your holiday - they do, however, have to let you have it at some point.

Regarding TOIL.... TOIL is not "holiday" and as such the regulations covering holidays do not apply to TOIL.
