INTRODUCE ME TO SOME NEW BANDS ???

This is precisely why recommendation threads get silly quite quickly; we've now got idiots posting old school emo, indie rock and indie pop when the guy originally listed pop-punk bands. Just stupid.

How can you call this guy a wally when you come out with similar sounding bands.
Now I'm calling you a wally because the only decent punk bands were The Ramones & Sex Pistols - anything else was a copy.
Ah, nothing like the old men being disgruntled.

1) I listed them because he asked for them. I don't listen to Hit The Lights, but because I'm actually knowledgeable in this area of music (as opposed to casting arbitrary aspertions about it all because I play in a pub rock covers band) I recommended them.
2) The Ramones had one good album which HELPED to, but did not solely, define a genre of 'punk'. My personal tastes lie in modern day punk-rock (far removed from 70s oi), and the OP likes pop-punk - even further removed. The Sex Pistols were created by major label marketers to cash in on a trend - something which has been happening ever since. They were the sacrificial lambs of punk - ostracised by the true punk community and given up to the mainstream media to allow the true music to stay respectful and true to itself.

If you actually seriously believe that The Sex Pistols were a true defining force in anything other than the pop charts then you are seriously, seriously deluded.

Just heard Ring Of Fire (Johnny Cash) and Reach For The Sky and the first thing I thought was "Dropkick Murphys".
Ahahahaha. Considering DKM sing in fake Irish accents and Social Distortion do not, I find that very, very funny.

True story: DKM on their last (or second to last) tour were offered a gig in Dublin - a dream for a pseudo-Irish band, you might think. Uh-uh. Their guarantee was so ludicrously high the promoter couldn't afford it due to the constrictions imposed by the size of the venue and they refused to budge an inch whilst playing bigger venues over here. Absolutely hilarious.

The Wildhearts again... Not because they sound that much like the list at the start, but because they're fantastic.

I assume you've already got the second My Chemical Romance album and the first Lostprophets album, but if you don't you should. Hundred Reasons, Finch, Biffy Clyro, the All American Rejects, Weezer, And You Will Know Them By The Trail Of Dead... Maybe Refused and Hell is For Heroes if you want to get a bit more aggro than the pop-punk stuff. I'd recommend an A album if I could decide which one. How Ace Are Buildings or Hifi Serious I suppose. Also Troublegum by Therapy, The Lost Riots by Hope of the States, 1992: The Love Album by Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine, and download Minerva by the Deftones (don't buy the album, the rest is all rubbish)

Penski, the Crocketts! Almost forgotten now, even Davy's a bit sketchy on the details, but what a band. The Crimea are not too shabby either, for that matter.

Anyday now a Wildhearts - Live At Scarborough Castle DVD will be dropping through my door. I've waited a long time for this to be released and I can't wait.
