hi guys

got error message when boot up my PC

"Invalid BOOT.INI files
Booting from C:\windows\"

i deleted Visita partition and for some reason it messed up the MBR so i booted up XP CD to fix the MBR

if i leave my PC alone for around 5 seconds then it'll boot up XP

copy/paste from my boot.ini

[boot loader]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

which part in boot.ini is incorrect?

cheers :)

Is that all that is in your boot.ini? Try something like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

Edit - No idea why there is a space in the word WINDOWS for the default, there isn't one there when I edit my post :confused:

Max word length limit of vBulletin :)

try putting your OS disk in, go to recovery console, try one of the fix utils on there, i think fixmbr does it as it repair master boot record and i got a feeling is repairs boot.ini
