Recently I have been thinking about purchasing these ionic band things that are supposed to make you feel better and more energetic which professionally athletes are also said to use.

Here is a link that explains what they are and how they work personally its lost on be but it makes a bit of sense. Ionic Balance.

I have read a few reviews on Amazon but thought it was worth asking here to see if anyone has one and if they have found a personal improvement. They just seem a bit to expensive for a bracelet that aint to pretty and might do nothing.

Exactly. Complete and utter poopoo.

There's no scientific reason why these would work.

EDIT: just had a look at the link. Hahaha, what kind of suckers are they hoping will buy these things?

I have one, not for the balance effect but mainly because i have always worn a band around my right wrist. When my current one broke I wanted a replacement and I just liked the design.

when in Iceland on holiday i found a quirky skateboarding type shop and I had some spare holiday money that I needed to blow so i bought one.

Yes its a lot of money for what it is, yes its a lot of tosh, and yes I am a sucker, but at least my right wrist does not feel naked anymore :)

Edit: mine is not like the one in the link its an EQ one. The one in the OP is HORRIBLE

These things are interesting, i was at a wakeboarding place a few years ago and this guy was selling them, they get you do do these three tests and you basically do it once with out the band then once again with the band on and see the difference, in each test all of us had double the strength and balance after the test. So a couple guys buy them, £25 each, i think, hmmm ill google it later, anyway after researching surprisingly it was a total SCAM! hah your body knows what to expect on the second time you do these tests so of course you are better at them. The interesting thing is tho, even after we found out they were a scam we sometimes had good results doing the tests they set out so for the placebo effect if you were going to compete in something, its definitely worth picking one up off the bay for 99p.

You're wearing it for fashion purposes though. The 'suckers' I was referring to are people who think this actually balances their ion levels and improves their physical purposes.

Oh and I'm sure there's plenty better looking wrist bands out there :o

I dunno mine looks quite nice for a band its just white and grey and simple. Not trying to defend them in the slightest I know they are over priced and pointless

Haha pretty negative all round then my girlfriend did suggest she might aswell just buy this orange gem from work that supposedly improves your strength if I was going to get one of these bands.

I got one for xmas, a powerbalance one. I had a right go when i found out how much they cost! Always wore it though as someone has said, i dont like having my wirst bare!

i will say with mine, the silver circle in the middle has now almost disappeared due to a black ring forming and continuously growing!

other than that, i havnt had any effects from it either!!

I wish that buying these items caused infertility. (that's a bit harsh)

If you're actually going to buy one, buy it from the Skeptic Bros in Australia. They got the consumer watchdogs in Australia to sort these ****ers out and made them apologise to the public and offer refunds to everyone in Oz that bought a powerbalance band. The Skeptic Bros also found out the manufacturer in China that made the powerbalance bands and got them to make Placebo Bands which you can buy for cost price here for a couple of dollars: http://www.placebobandstore.com/store/

Here's how the demonstration scams works: http://skepticbros.com/placebo-bands/

Complete and utter crap! There was a stall selling this rubbish at the London Bike Show and it didn't take a genius to work out how they were conning people into believing that they worked. It made me quite angry and I had to remove myself from the stall before I hit one of the salesmen.

I've seen them sometimes at shopping centres doing demonstrations. I keep wanting them to stop me to attempt their 'demonstration' on me. :D

Tell them you're thinking of buying one and ask for a demo. I'm sure they would oblige. I don't think they would pass at any opportunity to sell a bit of rubber costing them under 10p at 2500% profit. At the Bike show, they were a company called EFX and the band worked using holographic technology.

In my case they used the second method from that video to demonstrate (the one with arm down to the side and hand cupped. First time he did it something didn't feel right and I knew he was doing something different with and without the band. The second time it was clear what he was doing, I called him out on it, his face changed colour and he couldn't wait for me to get away. It did make me angry as I don't see any difference between this con and daylight robbery. Can't believe people fall for this crap.
