iOS 4.3 Beta

Ive just put 4.3b on, and the 'personal hotspot' feature works flawlessly, Connected my iPad with not a single issue. I only get EDGE here at home to its obviously quite slow, I'll be interested to try it at work later in a very nice 3G area.

I love 4.3 already as the ease of browsing at work etc has increased 10 fold and on a decent sized screen :> Now to put it 4.3 on iPad, I want to try the gestures, which look very nice also. Ill report back if you like.

Thank you Apple!

Do you pay for tethering?

As an addition, I've had no luck putting 4.3 on iPad, its failed twice and I've had to restore from back up each time, which takes ages so I've lost interest in it for now, once the dev forums quieten down and people have sorted it, because Im not the only one, I'll have another go. I really wanted to use the new gestures but no matter, I can live without them for now, at least my phone is done so I can connect to that for the internets:>

Nope

No, just connect to phone using password phone generates in your wifi settings on pad/laptop/whatever and you're good to go.

That's pretty awesome if that sticks then. Still plenty of time for them to clamp down on it mind.

Being on wifi most places I go I hardly ever use a great deal of my data allowance so tethering would be a nice option to have, as long as I don't go over my 500mb I don't see what the issue is? I hope O2 allow it :(

Tethering charge for accounts that have unlimited data, that is fine.

but when you only get fixed amount, you should be able to use it as you like.

My only concern with the personal hotspot is that I'll do no work at work!

When it goes live I suspect the carriers will charge, even though I don't think they should, especially if you only have 500MB/month which can easily be used by an iPhone on its own.
Just at the moment they either don't know it exists or don't care about the few people with the developers kit.

Its probably enabled on the beta for developers, and will be locked down on the final public release.
Same happened before with a beta for tethering.

I know that feeling all to well. :(

Used up my 500mg/month in about 10 days when all I had access to for about a month was my iPhone. O2 then wanted £3 for every additional mb! They are having a laugh... :o

iPhone on O2 with only 500mb per month is a joke really. Specially as Tesco (using O2 network) give you 1TB, and 3mobile is unlimited!

Most 'unlimited' boasting carriers are anything but that. As soon as you exceed a small 'trigger' amount of say 300mb they'll begin twitching. My o2 Simplicity 20 tariff for my iPhone is unlimited, yet they got in touch with a mate of mine on the same tariff when his usage hit 600mb.
