iOS7 Does NOT Make Phone Waterproof!

We are talking here about people being deceived. On it's own, it's wrong to assume that a certain piece of electronic equipment is waterproof. However in this case, people were misled.

As for all the "LOL" replies to my comments, I have this to say, life will make you humble with time, get your plump buttocks ready ;)

LOL

For you to be this defensive I can only assume you dunked your phone.

Did it sink or did it float?

That story actually made me laugh out loud.

Kudos to the tricksters that thought up the fake advert, and shame on those naive enough to believe it :D

if your argument is common sense then surely they're guilty of a massive oversight in this regard?

B@

Common sense is not to call people sheeple or idiot for not being technologically aware.

Point is, given their limited understanding of the technology in question, the deceit created by 4chan does not highlight their "idiocy". On the other hand if they put phone underwater without any other external deceit, then it would have been silly of them to assume by default that such tech would be waterproof, but when they lied to by an elaborate trick, then their fault only lies in not being aware that internet is full of a-holes, which is actually quite a sad thing to learn when introducing for example elderly people to the world wide web.

Also, I think the tweets were faked too, I doubt young people would fall for this but chances are, a small amount of people probably would have been fooled by this.

You dunked yours in water didn't ya, didn't ya! :D

yes, it's rude and naughty and i'm terrible human being. doesn't mean it's not true. common sense isn't even relevant in this regard is it?

i don't think they were faked and old people don't tend to have iphones precisely for the reasons you state above; they may not understand the technology.

everyone knows phone + water = bad. why you'd even try it is beyond me when the best that can happen is you'll have a wet phone and the worst that can happen is you'll ruin it; "warranty" or not. they're idiots

Christ you people are ruthless, it may seem absurd on a techy forum but a lot of people are not so technologically aware. Doesn't make them sheeple or idiots. Not everybody knows that internet is full of a-holes who create a lot of misinformation to bring harm to people who are less aware of certain things.

My Father gets in trouble using a simple TV remote that they've had for nearly five years, and yet even he said he wouldn't be so stupid as to submerge his phone in water because some advert told him to.

Lol. Lol. Lol. Lol. Etc.

Well clearly my plea for some decency is ignored. Go on with insulting people if that makes you guys feel better about yourself.

Just brilliant, & it's not even April 1st, I'm amazed so many peeps actually fell for this.

Would be interested to know how many iphones died today, I know of one, & it wasn't me, I don't own overhyped ****.

The Apple loving hipsters will arrive soon and it will turn into the usual thirty page love/hate thread. :p

And as foretold, here I am .

I think this is hilarious.

I saw the ad on 4chan and Reddit a while back, but literally just laughed it off as I didn't think it would get past 4chan and infect anything else.

Amazing. Beautiful in many ways.

I think it highlights more how much people just accept whatever they're spoon fed.

Um...who is everyone laughing at or taking the intelligentsia high horse from?

The report merely speculates that people actually did this, it's only proof is ONE tweet which doesn't actually admit to breaking his phone. I reckon no-one actually tested this.

I reckon plenty of people did.

I wouldn't be surprised actually if my younger sister goes and tries this in about a weeks time. She's academically bright, but she lacks an ounce of common sense and is slow to catch on with these things.

Having seen a video of that new nano spray on water repellent, it's a bit retarded for any high end electronics not to use such a finishing process during manufacture.

It's a pity I can't yet import the stuff.

The irony is that people in this thread are laughing about people believing anything they see online, yet they are laughing at obviously fake tweets about people having done this.

The people laughing should laugh at themselves for being stupid enough to believe the tweets tbh.
