iOS7 Does NOT Make Phone Waterproof!

The irony is that people in this thread are laughing about people believing anything they see online, yet they are laughing at obviously fake tweets about people having done this.

The people laughing should laugh at themselves for being stupid enough to believe the tweets tbh.

Have to agree with this. The ad is funny but I doubt it had much success.

Come on now, remember how many people fall for the stupidly obvious BBC pranks historically (spaghetti crops in Switzerland) - never forget just how gullible some people really are.

While I doubt it hit a huge portion of people, I'm fairly certain it would have got a fair few - just those who it did hit phoned up Apple (got told it was a hoax & didn't post online due to the shame).

You know what they say about assuming.

Not everybody is technologically aware. The only thing I am defending here is common sense.

Common sense is not submerging your phone on purpose, even if its wateproof.

If you buy a Toughbook PC for 2000 pounds, do you go hammering on it with a mace just to test it out?

Or a "safe" car, do you have to test it by driving into a wall at 60kmh to see if you survive or not..

All these safety features in any devices are backups, they are not supposed to be tested like that.. Fake or not. People are idiots.

Having seen a video of that new nano spray on water repellent, it's a bit retarded for any high end electronics not to use such a finishing process during manufacture.

It's a pity I can't yet import the stuff.

Probably heat transfer and actually draining the water away.

I can't believe how many fools this forum has..do you actually believe this really happened? do you think ANYONE did put his iphone underwater? then you are bigger fools than the fantastic fools you are laughing at.

Jokes on you..

some DM hack wrote a rubbish made-up piece about something stupid they saw on 4chan (who usually tweet and facebook troll their own stories to make them more real anyway) and you just believed it..

i despair for the future of mankind if people are so gullible..

Check the reviews of it though.

It is not nearly as effective as on the video, in fact, its crap. I can't google for the vids right now, but in real usage it causes a layer of grease on your items, and it wears off very quickly. A gimmick, but will not do anything close to what it does on the video.

The idea that an OS upgrade may make the device waterproof is not really that absurd.

Yes it really is in order for the OS to tell that the device has been dunked/ effected by water you'd at least require an electronic sensor to detect the water making this more of a hardware issue. The OS being just software doesn't have the ability to interact with the real world and thus tell whether outside forces are effecting it :p

I bet no one really fell for it the same with the shave your head for justin bieber thing they did.

if anyone did a video of them testing it on youtube then it's most likely just because they knew it would go viral and get millions of hits.

I remember when the first water proof RC car came out some guy did a video of driving one into his pool and said he got enough money from youtube to buy the car multiple times.
if I still lived with my ex I would have convinced her it was real and got her to dunk her phonre in the bath whilst I filmed it and stuck it on youtube

I don't want to argue but what you are doing here is called reductio ad absurdum and is a logical fallacy. I already put my reasoning, so there is no need for me to repeat myself.

I've always wanted to although I'd rather use Explosive's just to really see how much damage one can really stand... Sadly work won't allow me to do this and I'm not paying 2000 odd pounds just to satisfy my curiosity. I can tell you that one has survived being run over by a Transit Van full of tools one of the Field service engineers dropped one and ran over it by "accident" or so I'm told and it still works.:p

Christ you people are ruthless, it may seem absurd on a techy forum but a lot of people are not so technologically aware. Doesn't make them sheeple or idiots. Not everybody knows that internet is full of a-holes who create a lot of misinformation to bring harm to people who are less aware of certain things.

I'm detecting a wet iphone.
