Not sure why anyone would really want that, but the new upward swipe is better than the old iOS method (imo & it's better looking)

I'd expect so too. Personally I'd prefer it if they'd left it until it was done. But there we go. There's a lot of pressure on Apple to compete these days, much more than there ever was.

Actually, you still need to swipe to the right to unlock, swiping up opens the camera app. Obvious to previous iPhone owners, but not to those new to the platform. There's bad UI design elements all round in iOS 7, very inconsistent.

It looks like Apple and MS have run out of ideas. Apple OS is just a cross of MIUI and free android apps.
