It will drop temps by 15-20 degrees, but you lose warranty and risk damaging the chip.
Intel used crap paste under the lid, i shall replace with liquid metal pro or if i do do it may get a ek direct die bracket.

In doing all this results in lower temps and higher clock speeds ;)

Looks great! I'm going for a similar setup soon but I think I'll be getting the hero instead, I'd love a maximus but it's almost an extra 100 quid :( gotta wait til payday in a few weeks to work out where I stand :)

Your a brave man for delidding that cpu!
 
As Hakanese Says, you just need a EK supremacy and a Naked Ivy Kit, Mine is currently sitting waiting for a few more parts before it is up and running but all fits fine on a Haswell.

Looks like can only buy them direct from EK now unless ocuk plan on getting anymore.
 
I presume they will get more in stock, I bought mine probably a month ago and they went out of stuck just before I ordered they got more in then, don't see why they wouldn't now, especially with them being used again on Haswells.
 
Looking very nice so far Nick, red cables is something i may look into as well. Still using the blue modular corsair cables, that and a pair of red or black backplates for my 670's. The blue just doesnt look right with this board.

Thx mate, hopefully get it finished fri/sat just hoping the remaining gpu's i'm after stay in stock, will be ordering rest on thursday.
 
Which cards are you going for? Strangely, despite this board being a bit tighter spaced than my old Z77 V Pro, my top gpu is running 2-3c lower. Same case, same case fans and the same ambient temp. Quite chuffed with that. May also look into delidding at some point.
 
2 X 780 classified's :D should have been getting most of my watercooling bits tomoz but had no email off ocuk, needed rads in etc so i can plan what fittings i need.
