Morning all...

having installed VLC on my iPad and transferred a few films on it, i have noticed that during playback that some of the voices are not played...

Reading around the internet it seems that VLC is using the rear audio channels... Is there any way I can easily (and cheaply) rectify this?

Its a bit of a pain when you watch a film and come characters mouth moves but you hear no sound whilst others are fine!!!

Cheers :)

Edit... This is probably best in the software section... Damn you multiple open tabs!!

Tried to use Micro to convert files and it converts them but the audio is awful!!!! I will try the other players now...

If other players can do it with out conversion this would be much better :)

Thanks for the help all!!!

I've had it with VLC. I decided to add loads of movies to it when i was working up in Inverness last month. Nightmare! Thing was constantly crashing.

Decided to simply convert my movies using handbrake then put them into Movies using itunes. Only takes 20mins a film.

If i were you id dump VLC while your ahead. Its garbage.

Just tried CineXplayer and it is even worse... no audio on the files that I have been having problems with...

Will try handbrake now :D *fingers crossed*

audio isnt the only issue with vlc on ipad. none of my movie files play for longer than about 10 mins without crashing, requiring not 1 but 2 restarts to the vlc app. v annoying and they've not fixed it since months of knowing about the issue!

btw adobe media encoder has a preset for appleTV which works just perfectly with the normal ipad/iphone movie player and will allow you to batch process hundreds of files with one click. i've been using it lots for work lately and it's rock solid. i think it might also be multithreadded.

cheers,

I was having all kinds of problems with VLC and CineXPlayer. I've since tried OPlayer on both iPhone and iPad and everything I have thrown at it (mostly xvid avi's) has worked without any issues. Great app.

Well, how you get on?

It takes quite a while to encode the movie files, however saying that they work like a dream in the Video app...

I might try OPlayer to solve my problems though... I would prefer not to have to convert the files to put them on the iPad :p
