iPhone 4S Reservations?

I spoke to a guy in the Newcastle store today and he said they have not had stock at all this week and no idea when they will get it. He said the system does work and to just keep trying each night.

Annoyingly, I went into 4 phone shops in Newcastle at lunch time and they ALL had stock in of Iphones 4s in various sizes and both colours but are only selling to contract customers not PAYG.

How can these stores have them and Apple are not receiving new stock? surely that's crazy!

I can only assume that it's because not many people want an 18 - 24 month contract and would prefer a SIM free phone, plus there are lots of PAYG people who aren't being supported by phone shops.

I've given up on the Apple reservation system after trying each night at 9pm, only for the site to slow right up from too much traffic, and then to find my local store showing all iPhones as unavailable.

In the end I ordered via the online Apple store last night, a white iPhone 4S 32GB, with expected delivery between 27th October and 3rd November (and that includes the 3 day delivery estimate after dispatch) and was pleasantly surprised that it would be with me so soon, when the website had stated dispatch, not even delivery, was in 1-2 weeks time. I'm guessing Apple are expecting stock pretty soon if they are dispatching to me on Monday...I'll probably be upset now as knowing my luck they'll have stock showing at 9pm tonight...

If you see stock, reserve one. This is what I did, I cancelled my order last night (because it was still processing) and got money back today.

How quickly did Reading run out of stock? I might be able to reserve one tonight if they have stock.

Well on my desktop I never saw stock..
On my MBP I saw stock for everything but the 16GB Black at 8:55. I think by 5-10 past only things left were 32+64gb white. So pretty much

Edit: It does work for PC, just saw 64GB models at Stratford City.

Stratford City: no pickup dates

It is physically impossible for white iPhones to be available for 5 seconds and then become "unavailable". There is no way.
