With the iPhone supporting DC-HSPA+ I'm wondering what sort of speeds people are getting out in the wild. O2 recently upgraded their network to a speed of up to 42mbs in major city's and I'm wondering how big the jumps actually are.

Taken on Saturday in Watford :)

I'd be interested to know this. I'm in central London by day and live in East London, yet I've never been able to get above 3mb on my 4.

Birmingham B1 with O2

Inside:
Ping: 90
Down: 1.54
Up: 1.45

Outside:
Ping: 119
Down: 3.96
Up: 1.51

You would think I would get better speeds in the centre of a major city, but it's always been poor :(

I compared 3G on a mate's 5 and my 4 side by side on Friday night.

Both phones in exactly the same physical location, one at a time, both on 3 bars (it was an exact test, honest).

I expected the 5 to blow the 4 out of the water, however it didn't. Both equal in either up or download, but in most tests the 4 was faster.

Totally contrary to what everyone has been saying, but was quite surprised!

colleague has an IP5, we both ran speedtest in Gosforth Newcastle, my IP4S got identical speed of 3.15mb/sec to the IP5, this is both on O2 so HSDPA is not active in Gosforth it would appear.

Speedtest.net result yesterday on Three in the general area of the Metrocentre:

Date: 23/09/2012 @ 16:12
Down: 16.96 Mbps
Up: 2.73 Mbps
Ping: 48ms

Done a few as I've been wondering around over the weekend and that's the highest. Lowest was 5.17 down/1.45 up.

Home broadband hits 2.9 Mbps at best.... I'm in a signal "hole" for Three in the house as well, so I can't even tether! Still, at least it'll be greased lightning (pardon the unintentional pun) when I'm out and about.

Getting about the same, and I'm within spitting distance of the O2 mast on Jubilee Rd.

Damn, that's pretty decent. Only thing that's been holding me back from 3 is the spotty coverage (and the 12 month Simplicity I started last month). I've just ordered one of their free SIMs to see what I'm missing.

Ignore the location - this is indoors in Ipswich on 3

Seems quick enough. Response time on the actual device on the iPhone 5 compared to the 4 is like night and day.
