iPhone 5 reservation, how does it work?

I paid £529 for my 16GB black. I also queued from 5.30am on the day of opening to get one. :p

I held off, I like to read some reviews. The anodizing thing shook my desire to get one as I don't use bumpers, but my 3GS is really showing its age now.

Feek, what contract/or deal will you likely opt for?

Wife is looking a 5 for around Christmas, and i am pondering the options, we need unlocked, as she will use it while travelling, so can't network lock.

Secondly, I'm not tied into any contract. Do the mathematics, it's cheaper to buy a phone outright and pay a miniscule cost every month than it is to be tied into a long contract with a high monthly fee but a low initial outcome. I'm not stupid, I know how much it costs me and trust me, it's cheaper this way.

Just FYI anyone that's thinking of going to EE for 4G, this is surprisingly not true... whereas like Feek I've previously found it cheaper to buy the handset outright from Apple and keep my rolling 30day SIM only contract with O2 (became iPhone SIM-only once my 18month iPhone 3G contract ended).

Doing the math based on iPhone 5 64GB, on the 3GB EE 4G tariff.
On a normal contract: 24months x £46pm = £1104. + £219.99 (subsidised handset) = £1323.99
Going the SIM-only route: 24months x £31pm = £744. + £699 (Apple unlocked handset) = £1443

It's cheaper to go the subsidised handset route this time. Obviously this is only comparing within EE 4G, there's far cheaper deals out there if you're not obsessed with 4G... and they normally are better in the long run to stump up the high handset cost and have a low monthly SIM only deal.

Or it's even cheaper to know some one who works for a network.

I'm paying £21 a month for a Galaxy Note 2, unlimited everything, which'll cost me pretty much the same as the SIM free prices that Note 2s go for at the moment.

Two, one for Lakeside and one for Bluewater. Each day I had them in by 09:00:45 at the absolute latest, I was told by the dude in Lakeside that they're issued on a first come, first served basis but the problem was that they simply weren't getting the stock in anyway!

Cheers man :)

I'm having no luck with a white sim free 32gb model :/. I've placed reservation at two stores everyday for weeks now! I guess the limited stock they have ends up going to those who reserved contract phones. Also, the stores I'm reserving them for (manchester arndale and Trafford centre) probably have massive demand too which doesn't help!

Well, after a few days of having my online order placed I got an email from Apple at half 9 last night for a reservation slot. Now I have a 32GB black model. :D

Wohoo! Finally got one reserved too. Never got one at London Regent St. or Covent Garden the last two weeks - but the first time I tried Shepherds Bush (White City) I managed to get one, 32GB White.

Looking forward to collecting it tomorrow :D
