Hi guys,
Managed to accidently smash my iPhone 5 screen tonight and have an appointment booked at the apple store for tomorrow.
Is there any chance of a free replacement? Absolutely gutted :(

I really can't understand why they should give you a free replacement for breaking the phone........but it happens unfortunately.

:(

I don't think you'll get a free replacement. When i took in an iPad3 with a smashed screen a few months ago it was £250 for a swapout for a brand new replacement.

Very little chance I think :( I bought my iPhone 4S into the Apple store when I spilt blackcurrent on it and I got a replacement for £139 (I think it was that much...).

I think it's an awesome deal to be honest - I don't see other manufacturers doing a cheap replacement like that...

Touch wood I've never smashed my iPhones. I've dropped them, but they always bounced. They do have a few dings though.

I refuse to use a case because I'd just rather use the phone as it was designed. I'm switching to an 8X soon so I'll see how I get on with polycarbonate bodies.

I doubt it. P.S. you're a mug (has to be said).

How much is a replacement for a iPhone 5? iPhone 4 was £119?

Excuse me? Do you know the circumstances under which it ended up being broken? Oh wait no you don't.

Apple are gonna rip you off again with the replacement, well done.

Oh do shut up

I understand of course but I'd rather not have to spend £100 or so.. of course If I have to I will

Why bother with phone insurance if you aren't happy with the £100 excess? I don't bother with it.

I don't you're right but if a bus hit me i'd make sure mine was ok ha. Sorry to crack a joke I wouldn't be all that happy if I just smashed my iPhone 5 neither sounds like your situation was unavoidable for whatever reason so maybe look into a Otter Box or something if this is likely to happen again.

Get it replaced by the insurance then cancel it. £100 excess is ridiculous and makes the whole point of the insurance void if you'll be paying £120 or whatever it is to get a swapout from Apple directly without any insurance. How much is the insurance and who with out of curiosity?

I know how you feel, I smashed an HTC Desire HD in the 1st week of getting it.

That's a steep excess, it's £35 on the s3 deal I arranged today.
