Very little chance I think I bought my iPhone 4S into the Apple store when I spilt blackcurrent on it and I got a replacement for £139 (I think it was that much...).
I think it's an awesome deal to be honest - I don't see other manufacturers doing a cheap replacement like that...
Consider the same scenario 18 months down the line though where your 5 is tired and grubby, £189 for a replacement after 'accidental' damage is a bit of a bargain!
£179? Thats not bad at all really all things considered. Could've been worse, after 20 years of not falling off a bike, I recently dropped my pristine new GSX-R while wheeling it up the drive. Shame Suzuki don't do Genius Bars
you can't give the insurance a try now, show them you apple reciept, where else could they get it repaired at an approved site if not an apple monkey store?
I would have thought a complete loss of the phone and someone racking up a massive bill on the phone is a good enough reason for most insurance on phones.
Not like you can walk into an apple shop empty handed and ask for an iphone 5 for £179.99 is it.
Who are you insured with? I smashed my ip5 screen after a couple of weeks of having it. I have insurance through my bank and the excess was £100 for loss or theft but it was only £30 for damage. They couldn't repair or replace it in the end so I had a cash payout and it took 10 days.
I was told at the Apple store that they would be offering a walk in screen replacement service for less than £100 when the parts became available but presumably this isn't in place yet?
