I don't want to have to trawl through all the rubbish people have sent me on whatsapp to get to the photos I've taken myself!

Don't you just disable the 'save incoming media' option in iOS? I don't want those in my photo album and I can access them again from the app if needed. The Android version doesn't even give you that option!

I'm actually really surprised that, after a few request, laying out some solid information about Android issues and this is the only retort.

Other half has just bought an iPhone 6 16GB outright from Apple and quoted 7-10 days for delivery... Are people waiting that long or have some got through quicker?

I'm sorry to hear that mate. Sounds like you'd benefit from waiting until we see the first Jailbreak.

Your listed issues are all solved by my current jailbreak and that's no different, arguably a lot more simple, than flashing a ROM.

But to me if you are going to JB an iPhone then you may as well have just got Android in the first place. I really don't understand this reasoning it's perverse. After all if you spend wisely Android or WP is a much cheaper proposition.

I have OS X because it suits me, I have Android and Windows for the same reasons.

You should get a more firm delivery date in a couple of days.

Though personally if there is an Apple Store close by, I would just reserve one and go pick it up. I only waited a day for mine from deciding wanting one to actually getting one. The stores get stock every day.

It's all rather subjective isn't it. I don't understand why flashing a ROM on Android is considered freedom but Jailbreaking iOS is applying a bandage.

Android is an open system whereas iOS is not. If you buy into Apple then you are buying into the whole ethos along with their ecosystem (which is closed). I would say that those who JB Apple are actually open source devotees at heart but prefer the perceived kudos of owning an Apple device.

That's my own personal take on it.

I JB my original iPhone, did it for about 6 months. Custom skins and all that, but every time a new ios update comes out, I can't use it if I want my skin and I would need to wait until a new JB...PITA.

Jailbreak = Open iOS + all iOS Benefits

:D

Did you read the information you asked from me when you stated that essentially all mobile OS brands are the same? If you did then you'll realize there's a very distinct difference and all people aren't gullible sheep buying into a brand image.

In the States there's an issue with resellers each buying ten iPhones on/after release day which depletes stock for the patient few who pre-order online.

Story: http://imgur.com/a/V4Cem

UK isn't facing the issue because it's so much more expensive.

I jail-broke my 5S a few weeks back before iOS8 came out. Thought I would load up some custom animations to make it look like Android. Then it started crashing all time :D really felt like Android again

No, I want them to save to a separate folder so I can decide what I want to do with them later without trawling through every photo that exists on my phone.

Even if I used the above method because I only wanted to save the odd picture that was sent I'd still have the same problem of it being in the same folder as everything else.

Reserved my new phone to pick up on the store before my night shift tomorrow, some finally came in to stock. Gone for the iphone 6 in space grey 128gb. Can't wait to get back on an apple phone, haven't enjoyed my androud experience over the last year and a half.

Then got to nip round to the Three store for the correct sim. I currently have insurance through Geek Squad on my Xperia Z. Do you guys think I will be able to switch it to my iphone or need a new policy with someone? I'll go into the CW store whilst I'm in town to check but just wondered if anyone new in the mean time.

Compare the price to Apple care+, I personally never really bother with insurance plans but if I was to get one with an iPhone I would go with Apples. They tend to also pop up on HotUkDeals through ebay sellers for £20-£30 and everyone seems to get it to work properly so thats another option.

At least UK has queues, there's no stock in US so no point in even queuing!

US stores have said in the past two releases there hasn't been somewhat available stock until two months after launch day. Not to say there aren't a lucky few getting phones from pre-orders but that's how bad it is.

A big irritation is how the priority of pre-order delivery isn't based on date ordered but location.

Funny how we both perceive clutter differently.

I go to my Android photo app and have albums for Downloaded, Screenshots, Photos, Snapseed, Whatsapp, HDR originals, HDR Pro, Pano, Bacon Reader, Reddit News, Reddit Gallery, Meme Generator, Music Album Art #1, Music Album Art #2, Music Album Art #3, Music Album Art #4, Music Album Art #5.... I'm not making this up!! In fact I've probably missed a few there too but, even aside the album art, it baffles me to understand how anyone wouldn't find that a cluster ****.

To get rid of the music album art I had to put a .nomedia folder into the root of my Music directory but that means no music apps can access the media because it doesn't appear in auto nor manual media searches. So I tried to remove the album art photos by using the photo app.... nope can't delete. I'm not going to manually go through 40GB of music folders to remove the photos using an Android file browser so now I need to pull out the card and plug it into Windows and search for any .jpeg .gif .png .bmp... brilliant. That still didn't work because the art was embedded into the MP3 ID3 tag and that's what was appearing in the photo album!!!!

Yet another example of needlessly goofing about to get clean function on Android.
