I downloaded and paid £1.50 for 'Manual' set 1/2000 and still cannot take quick burst photos!

At least with camera+ quick burst would work. All i need to do it take ~10 photos quicky, then pick from 1 or 2 good ones

You know you can take bursts by holding down the button in the stock app? And you can select which ones you want to keep. Work very well IMO.

Got my 6+ on Friday. Lovely bit of kit and battery life seems to be great. Really disappointed that half my 3rd party apps look rubbish now and the other half don't even work at all.

I had no idea about that burst feature. I've just given it a go and it works really well. Except that due to the new position of the on/off button I accidentally turned the phone off half-way through the burst shots. I like to use the volume up button for taking shots.

The 4S feels like a toy now...

I know folk will say I'm perverse. I have held off getting an iPhone for years as I considered the screen to be too small. Well you know how you should be careful what you wish for?

Having seen both the new iPhones in the flesh I now think I prefer the 5S. I simply hate the 6 Plus as it's far to big for a phone IMO and the smaller 6? Well I'm not overly sold on the aluminium body. I just feel that the 5S sits better in the hand.

The wife says I'm not to mention iPhones ever again now.

To be fair, the Z3 was presented on such a high pedestal as the true iPhone 6 contender it's a good think he bailed early and wasn't stuck with a device he didn't want.

I was left stuck with an Android because it was my first venture, all the tales I heard of being able to flash ROMs and tweak to your hears desire left out all the major caveats.

Also, you have no idea if he was able to break even and just assumed the negative.

Yep. Ive just realised this now after buying an app (that doesnt shoot bursts anyway)

Oh no! I saw your posts earlier, well it's a good thing they only cost a few quid. I'm sure our knowledgeable photographer buddy would've bought you a pint to make up for it.

At least he tried to help!

Er yes, absolutely the price and since you asked....

It's not an easy transition from iOS to Android I'll tell you that.

The Note 2 back is too smooth and you battle with it sliding out of your hands 90% of the time. Comfortable one handed operation is simply not an option, but you don't realise how often one handed operation is vital until the honeymoon period ends.

You can't pop a case on these things either, it's already huge and the slippery design is what allows you to slip it in and out of the pocket with ease. I tried a clear body glove from skinomi and it's certainly helped but your hands need to be a little moist and stylus use is hindered.

Most of my gripes are environmental. Now that I live in a sunny climate, it's too heavy in the pockets when wearing shorts. When I used to drive all the time it was fine but being on a bus, you can't touch it if you're standing. I'm out walking around a lot now too so it's just not a comfortable experience.

If you drive everywhere and mainly stay indoors then it's fine... which is why I've ripped out the SIM card and use mine like a home tablet these days.

I have massive issues with the software side too.

It's great being able to flash new ROMs but each one comes with such massive caveats, you'll find a ROM that has everything except;
- no exFAT support for your 64GB microSD card so now you have no card
- no 4G LTE radio so that lovely 36Meg speed you had is now gone
- resource hogging ROM requiring a manual underclock for when you aren't using it vs manually resuming to normal clocks for when you are using it... otherwise you'll have no battery left even though you haven't touched the phone all day

Then you have to deal with fundamental issues with Android itself:

1.) Photos management is in such a poor state with Android, you'll have a million folders based on what app downloaded/made/tweaked the image. I had album art in a few music folders and couldnt even delete them from the album. So good luck finding a new downloaded photos. Some HDR photos don't even appear in the library until a few good minutes after being shot. The single photo folder in iOS dominates.

2.) Group SMS messaging is so excruciatingly buggy in Android, if you're coming from iOS there's no doubt you'll be in group messages with other iPhone users and Android just haven't incorporated a feature that lets you group text without it working one second and messing up the next.

3.) Policed apps in iOS have a massive advantage, apps not only work better than the main website but operate fluidly, very intuitive and to top are aesthetically incredible. Then you look at the Google PlayStore and find a list of awful junk that Joey the 12 year old next door uploaded. Not only that but so many apps are jammed with ads galore and some are even dangerous to your privacy, one actually sent my phone number to an ad firm and they kept calling for three days non stop. What a joke. The key point to take away; people on iOS pay for decent apps so it encourages developers to release A-grade material and the common iPhone hardware makes it that much easier to optimize apps then earn a return when selling it.

4.) The cool tech comes to iOS first. My UP band wasn't supported by Android till two years later, Flipbook was on iOS, Figure, WAZE, Vine, Über, Mint, Twitter, Teamviewer...

5.) No in-app search and download of "free trial" apps, you have to prat about with torrents or file transfers.

6.) Games! Goodness me the games!! So many incredible games on iOS that actually make sense on a phone and I love the free (and actual premium quality) game/app of the week. Android seems to be carried away with a console calibre that look gorgeous but on a mobile platform leaves you with many games which just don't get played.

I'm fine with putting in a bit of work to get things functional when you pay less for a device but this thing wasn't cheaper it actually cost a lot more than the new iPhone.

Yeah this was definitely a bad choice in my circumstance and I've took my time and effort in giving a genuine attempt to utilize all of Android's potential for so long that I'll barely make any money back by selling it now.

Pardon? Did you even click the show button?

I did, but that's not what I was replying to. I was just replying to your comment about price.

Edit - Just seen your edit with the quote. That's odd then, I'd have assumed the Note would be cheaper!

Sorry mate, I was responding to Participant's question about the number of caveats I encountered with my first venture into Android. Price being one of them, the Note 2 on release was more than the iPhone.

Didn't mean to confuse but I don't quote when replying to a comment directly above me.

Could you upload a photo for us possibly?

I still haven't seen any examples and I'm curious to see how bad it is.

What next level wizard managed to attach this image to the thread! I've never seen that done before... and couldn't even see a post indicating it's presence.

I had no idea even Safari was suffering the same issue which is probably the worse one to be affected. Thank you to whom ever it was, perfect example.

This is very true. It actually worked out very well for me and I saved myself a bit of money. I took the Z3 out on contract with Three, no upfront cost and £32 a month. The 64GB iPhone with the same data, minutes etc would have cost me £99 upfront and £46 a month. I sold the Z3 for £460.

64GB iPhone 6 on Contract with Three

£99 + 24 x £46 - Total Cost over 24 months = £1,203

Buy outright and take out sim only plan from Three
£619 + 24 x £15 - Total Cost over 24 months = £979

Take contract with Z3 and Sell for £460 then purchase iPhone outright
24 x £32 + £159 (Difference between iPhone cost and what I sold the Z3 for) - Total Cost over 24 months = £927

I may have missed something but it seems to have worked out quite well for me :)

Pretty much, I did the math of going on new contract vs what i am on now.

So, £619 for new phone + (£12.90 x 24) - £45 (trade in iPhone 4) = £883.60

To get the same unlimited data package i am on, the savings is £380 which is quite a bit. It does mean finding £600 in the first place !
