This year's iPhone-centric event is expected to see the debut of the next-generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which, according to rumors, will include a reinforced body constructed from stronger 7000 Series aluminum, Force Touch, an A9 processor, 2GB RAM, and an improved camera.

Rumors have also suggested Apple will use the event to unveil the next-generation Apple TV, a major update from the existing set-top box. It will include a redesigned chassis with an A8 processor, more storage space, and a touch-based remote control, along with a new software system that includes Siri support and a full App Store.

We'll also get an update on the launch dates of iOS 9 and watchOS 2, and shortly after the event ends, we may see golden master software releases for the two software updates ahead of their final public launch.

In line with past events, the September 9 iPhone unveiling will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple has not yet confirmed whether the event will be live streamed on its website and through the Apple TV, but it is likely details on a live stream will be announced a few days ahead of the event.

It seems if you ask siri for a hint it's got a few different answers that all point you towards the event on the 9th

18:00 BST 9/10

I tested the 6+ for a couple of weeks, too big for me.

Lying in bed I like to be able to hold it with one hand, the + is too big to do that comfortably and scroll. Or to use it in any situation really with one hand.

Then there's situations where I definitely don't want to drop my phone and the regular 6 feels much more secure in my hand. I was much more prone to potentially dropping it as it's so wide.

It's definitely not for everyone.

Maybe if they get rid of all the side bezels and move the home button behind the screen with force touch so it's closer to the size of the current 6 I could make the move. But not as it is currently.

and full control over the streaming experience.

Ahh yes, full control so they can overlay the wrong language track so we can listen to the Chinese translation like the one last year :p

To be fair, the last one ran very smoothly for me.

EDIT: They probably don't want to use YouTube primarily as it's a Google company.

Updated OP with that info Cosimo :)

Surely know one will know the amount of RAM until someone carries out a teardown? Isn't it usually only really figured out when iFixit does their teardown on release day?

The iPad pro was confirmed to have 4gb of ram by Adobe in a blog post, which has now been edited to remove it. Could be a good sign for the phones if true!

Last year the online store launch stock was gone within an hour, although you could reserve store allocation for pickup very easily. I reserved one at 11pm for collection at a pre-determined time on the launch date.

Did the store reservation go online at the same time as online purchases?

I seem to remember the store reservation system getting activated closer to the release date? Could be wrong though.

Argh, been trying to reserve one for in store pickup for the last 20 minutes.

Shows stock, asks me to log in, then a pop up appears asking me to update my apple ID then then a loading symbol for 20 seconds before it resets asking me to login again. Crappy reserve system.

All sorted now, it was trying to get me to upgrade my password security, just wasn't loading for about an hour!

Went out for a haircut and came back and finally loaded, allowing me to update all my security details and then order :)

For me the biggest reason to upgrade from a 6 will hopefully the ability to peek into messages using force touch and read them fully without marking them as read. I use text messages more than email for business and if it allows me to do this it will be something I've been waiting for for years and really help with productivity.

That and the better camera.
If there's more RAM, then even better.

(you can use it one handed but as its thin, it doesn't feel so secure), so in reality both phones are two handed devices.

I think that depends on the size of your hands, I have smaller hands and I feel much more comfortable and secure holding the regular 6 in one hand than the 6+.

I can balance the base of the phone on my pinky, support the back with the other 3 fingers and type quite easily one handed using my thumb all while feeling it's quite secure.

The plus was too large and top heavy for me to do this when I tested it for a couple of weeks. It wasn't easy for me to hold it securely in one hand and I felt I was much more likely to drop it.

Interesting, I just did a quick bit of store reservation stock checking on the Apple website looking at the 6 and 6 Plus, 16GB and 64GB variants, didn't bother with 128.

12 hours in and the rose gold is pretty much sold out across the board at nearly every store.

64GB Plus' are sold out across the board, apart from Aberdeen.

There's stock at the majority of stores for 16GB and 64GB normal 6's in every colour apart from rose gold.

There's stock at the majority of stores for 16GB Plus models in every colour apart from rose gold.

Not selling out too quickly then.

It seems the 64GB Plus model and the rose gold are the hot sellers!
