Iphone questions

Argh Carphone Warehouse suckkk.... should have got it from O2 tbh they have a better returns policy.

Don't worry they made me fill in loads of stuff, just related to when you return your phone etc

Doubt they will charge unless you signed up for insurance, don't think they have the power to turn your phone off :p

Cheers mate that's made me feel a bit better:cool:

I was only worried i got a phone call saying they were going to put me on a £35 a month contract when i've already got a £25 a month one on the go:D

Ok another couple of quick q's if nobody minds!

I have version 1.1.2 but when i plug it in tio itunes it says v 1.1.4 is available. Is it safe to just download that with a jailroken phone???

Also i have something waiting in the installer is it safe to install or will it brick my phone???

Lastly how do you disconnect from the net i always seem to have an "E" up beside the carrier name.

Thanks again for anyone that helps.Think of it as a care in the community project.

Having the E there isn't a problem, it's meant to be there all the time.

If you download 1.1.4 you'll need to re-jailbreak your iPhone, which is so easy it's scary.

The "E" means you are connected to the EDGE network :)

A blue square simply means you are on the regular GPRS network.

So i can just plug it in and download it or do i have to restore it first???

Sorry for being thick:D

If you plug in your phone you can "update" to 1.1.4, however, I'd recommend a complete "Restore" to 1.1.4

You can download the iPhone Software Bundle (.ipsw) file direct through iTunes or you can Google it. I recommend doing it from iTunes, it's easy enough.

I have a question about the iPhone if someone wouldn't mind answering...

My current contract runs out at the end of July (Orange), I want an iPhone but I can't be arsed to wait until then :p

If I sold my current handset and put the money towards an iPhone, I presume I could unlock it and use it on my current Orange contract yeh?

Then when my contract is up could I then take out the o2 £35 p/m contract, even though I won't be buying the iPhone because i'll already have it?

Obviously i'll look around for better deals at the time though :)

Yeah, that'll work.

Don't get the iPhone contract, there are better one's around. Just keep it unlocked and jailbroken and get an 02 Simplicity.

OK i'll look into it, cheers :)

I presume it'll work correctly on Orange? Anything I should be aware of?

Check out my picures in the 1.1.4 firmware thread.

I have had a 16GB iPhone running on Orange

Anyone? :)

Surely they just track the purchase from the website rather than you signing up to a contract? Might be wrong though.
