Iphone repair - sensitive photos!

In all seriousness you could do something like this, unless you look about 12 or something. Go in (white coat optional) and say your phone is borked, you're a doctor of some sort and it has confidential information on it and ask how they deal with that - they can't mess about with it if it is genuinely that kind of data so they must have some kind of procedure...
I always wondered what places like the MOD so when they want their computer gear fixed, I imagine they have in house people but even so I imagine there has to be a 3rd party involved for some things...

For highly sensitive stuff, I suspect it'll be easier to destroy it. Or if it's that bad, send a guard with it to watch everything.

Or, most likely, in house.

Just make sure anybody who touches it has a security clearance, there are so many IT jobs which require it now as a result.

But generally anybody in this sort of job has a contract which makes it clear that distributing any material found on a customers device is gross misconduct, not that it'd make you feel that much better if it did happen.

Just make sure you sign the return address as such too if you do :)

If it's completely borked then it's likely the drive is dead anyways. There won't be any attempt to recover data if it can be refurbished, just a full wipe.

What does it matter if they do see them? What are they going to do, hunt you down and follow you round with big blown up pictures of your missus showing them off to everyone?

I don't see the problem, sure its not ideal but its not like they're going to use them to bribe you or sell the photos to the press is it!

At the end of the day they are just pics of some girl with her kit off to them. They have seen it all before, you arent the first and you wont the be the last.

I had to get a computer fixed at an apple store, and made a joke about 'NOT CHECKING my internet history' - which the person did not get - he claimed that all data is confidential or something and is removed.
I would not risk it to be honest, just smash the phone up. If it was the other way round, I'm sure you would prefer the phone to be destroyed.

It might just be another phone with some nude pictures on. But for all you know they could end up on the net.

I would just burn the phone and buy a new one.

But they really shouldn't, this isn't some ghetto pc repair place, it's a big multinational who likely have policies in place regarding things like this. Certainly in the US they'd be fairly scared of getting sued if it did happen...

Company policies on such things are totally irrelevant, it's the policy of the individual that works on your phone that matters.

Ask yourself whether it's worth the risk of such pictures ending up online - even if there's a 1 in a million chance of it I personally wouldn't risk it.

Not sure if you'll have thought of it but try doing a hard-reset by holding the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears on the screen. A lot of people that have upgrade to 3.1 seem to have had this problem where the phone appears to have died but it hasn't.

Second use of this picture tonight woohoo :D:p

Surely they won't repair it if it's water damaged anyway?

I worked for an Orange & Nokia repair centre and the first sign of liquid inside meant scrap.
